Dan Pražák Apple has just released the long-awaited iPadOS 13 for regular users. Although it is designated by the serial number thirteen, it is a new system tailored specifically for iPads, even though it is built on the foundations of iOS 13. Along with this, Apple tablets also come with several special functions that will not only increase productivity, but above all bring them closer to ordinary computers .
iPadOS 13 shares the vast majority of functions with iOS 13, so iPads also get a dark mode, new tools for editing photos and videos, faster unlocking through Face ID (on iPad Pro 2018), up to twice the time it takes to launch apps, improved Notes and Reminders apps , new sorting of photos, smarter sharing, custom Memoji and, last but not least, more extensive support for augmented reality in the form of ARKit 3.
At the same time, however, iPadOS 13 represents a completely separate system and therefore offers several specific functions especially for iPads. In addition to the new desktop, where it is now possible to pin useful widgets, iPadOS also brings several novelties that take advantage of the large tablet display. These include special gestures for editing text, the ability to open two windows of the same application side by side, tap an application icon to display all its open windows, and even support for using multiple separate desktops.
But the list does not end there. To bring iPads even closer to regular computers, iPadOS 13 also brings support for a wireless mouse. And in addition, after the arrival of macOS Catalina in October, it will be possible to wirelessly connect the iPad to the Mac and thus expand not only the desktop of the computer as such, but also take advantage of the touch screen and Apple Pencil.
How to update to iPadOS 13
Before starting the actual installation of the system, we recommend backing up the device. You can do so Settings -> [Your name] -> iCloud -> Backup on iCloud. Backup can also be done through iTunes, i.e. after connecting the device to a computer.
You can traditionally find the update to iPadOS 13 in Settings -> In general -> updates software. If the update file does not appear immediately, please be patient. Apple releases the update gradually so that its servers are not overloaded. You should be able to download and install the new system within a few minutes.
You can also install the update through iTunes.
