More than three weeks ago, Apple released the first beta version of the upcoming iOS 7.1 update, where he began to fix some of the ills from the original big new version of iOS 7, criticized by designers, developers and users alike. The second beta version continues this path of corrections and some changes in the UI are quite significant.

The first change can be seen in the calendar, which became quite unusable in iOS 7, the useful monthly view that displayed the events of the selected day has completely disappeared and has been replaced only by an overview of the days of the month. The original form of the calendar returns in beta 2 as an additional view that can be alternated with the classic event list view.

Another new feature is the option to turn on button outlines. According to the designers, removing the border of the buttons was one of the biggest graphic mistakes that Apple made, people had a hard time distinguishing what was a simple inscription and what was a clickable button. Apple solves this problem by undercoloring the interactive part, which borders the button so that it is clear that it can be tapped. The coloring in its current form does not look very aesthetic, and hopefully Apple will improve the visual appearance, but the button outlines are back, at least as an option in the settings.

Finally, there are other minor improvements. The Touch ID setting on the iPhone 5s is located more visibly in the main menu, the Control Center received a new animation when pulled out, bugs from beta 1 in the ringtone were fixed, on the contrary, the option to turn on the dark version of the keyboard as default disappeared. A new iPad background has also been added. Finally, the animations are even significantly faster than they were in beta 1. However, the animations were one of the things that made the whole of iOS 7 seem slower than the previous version.

Developers can download the new bert version from the dev center or update the previous beta version OTA if they had it installed.
