Just a week after the release of the sharp version of iOS 13, Apple comes with its improved primary version in the form of iOS 13.1. The new system is available for regular users and mainly brings bug fixes and some interesting improvements. For example, Apple interestingly improved the AirDrop function on the new iPhone 11, added the automation of shortcuts in the application of the same name, and now also allows sharing the arrival time in its maps.

You can download the new iOS 13.1 in Settings -> In general -> Software update. For the iPhone 11 Pro, the installation package is 506,5 MB in size. The update can be installed on devices compatible with iOS 13, i.e. iPhone 6s and all newer (including iPhone SE) and iPod touch 7th generation.

AirDrop

  • Thanks to the new U1 chip with ultra-wideband spatial sensing technology, you can now select the target device for AirDrop by pointing one iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max at the other

Abbreviations

  • Automation designs for everyday routine activities are available in the Gallery
  • Automation for individual users and entire households supports automatic launch of shortcuts using set triggers
  • There is support for using shortcuts as advanced actions in the Automation panel in the Home app

Maps

  • You can now share your estimated arrival time while on the go

Battery health

  • Optimized battery charging slows down battery aging by limiting the amount of time that iPhone is fully charged
  • Power Management for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max prevents unexpected device shutdowns; if an unexpected shutdown occurs, this function can be disabled
  • New notifications for when the Battery Health app can't verify that an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max or later has a genuine Apple battery installed

Bug fixes and other improvements:

  • A link to the Me panel in the Find app allows guest users to log in and locate a lost device
  • Notification if iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max can't verify that its display is from Apple
  • Addresses issues in Mail that could cause incorrect download counts to appear, missing senders and subjects, difficulty selecting and tagging threads, duplicate notifications, or overlapping fields

  • Addresses an issue that could prevent Memoji from tracking facial expressions in the Messages app
