Apple has just released a new version of iOS, the operating system for iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. iOS 10 brings many new features including redesigned widgets, new form of notifications, deeper integration of 3D Touch or new Maps. Messages and the voice assistant Siri also received great improvements, mainly thanks to the opening to developers.
Compared to last year's iOS 9, this year's iOS 10 has slightly narrower support, especially for iPads. You install it on the following devices:
• iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus
• iPad 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2
• Both iPad Pros
• iPad mini 2 and later
• Sixth generation iPod touch
You can download iOS 10 traditionally via iTunes, or directly on your iPhones, iPads and iPod touch v Settings > General > Software Update. In the first hours of iOS 10's release, some users encountered an error message that froze their iPhones or iPads and required them to connect to iTunes. However, some had to perform a restore and if they did not have a fresh backup before the update, they lost their data.
Apple has already responded to the problem: “We encountered a minor issue with the update process that affected a small number of users during the first hour of iOS 10 availability. The issue was quickly resolved and we apologize to these customers. Anyone affected by the issue should connect their device to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for assistance."
Now nothing should stand in the way of installing iOS 10 on all supported devices. If you have encountered the problem mentioned above and are still unable to find a solution, the following procedure should work.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC and launch iTunes. We recommend downloading the latest version of iTunes 12.5.1 from the Mac App Store, which brings support for iOS 10, before proceeding.
- Now it is necessary to put the iOS device into Recovery mode. You can access it by holding down the Home button and the device's on/off button. Hold both buttons until the Recovery mode starts.
- A message should now pop up in iTunes prompting you to update or restore your device. Click on Update and continues the installation process.
- If the installation takes more than 15 minutes, repeat steps 1 to 3. It's also possible that Apple's servers are still overloaded.
- Once the installation is complete, you can start using your iPhone or iPad with iOS 10.
In addition to iOS 10, a new operating system for the Watch called watchOS 3 is now available. It primarily brings a significant increase in the application launch speed, changed control method and higher stamina.
To install watchOS 3, you will first need to install iOS 10 on your iPhone, then open the Watch app and download the update. Both devices must be within Wi-Fi range, the Watch must have at least 50% battery charge and be connected to a charger.
Today's final update is tvOS TV software update to version 10. Also new tvOS it is now possible to download and thus enrich your Apple TV with interesting news, such as an improved Photos application, a night mode or a smarter Siri, which can now search for films not only based on the title, but also, for example, by topic or period. So if you ask Siri for "car documentaries" or "high school comedies from the 80s", Siri will understand and comply. In addition, Apple's new voice assistant also searches YouTube, and the Apple TV can also be used as a controller for HomeKit-enabled devices.
I don't want to update it :( nothing happened on my watch :/
Nothing either ;-( iPhone yes, watch no
But the watch will not find the new watchOS. This is done via an app on the iPhone called Watch.

The whole iPhone SE made me crazy again, after the installation I was immediately prompted to connect to iTunes and recovery mode
I have the same problem. Wants to update to version 9.3.5
Unfortunately, seamless update does not happen on my iPhone 6s.
Yes, I'm glad I'm not alone :/ first time this happened to me. I was a little disappointed. And the worst thing is that the Apple servers are now overloaded and it will take approx. 9.3.5 hours to download version 3
Just update iTunes and then it will offer to update to version 10.1
I'll try to update :)
Even after updating via iTunes it didn't turn out well and I have to completely restore the iPhone :-(
I guess not, then all the content will be lost and I didn't even have a backup in iTunes
Ohh, it feels like Windows, Apple let me down this time
Without backup it's bad. I made a backup on iCloud before this charade :-)
I only had automatic backups set up on my iPhone, so hopefully I was able to back up some of what I had there before
so I already have IOS 10.0.1 - but the nerves... is it worth the nerves?
I'll answer myself, it's not worth it….
good night everyone, and thanks Gregor.
It's not worth it, hopefully I'll be able to put it together today, I'll be happy to advise and help :)
Update iTunes to the latest version and it will offer iOS 10.0.0.1 right away
The same thing happened to me, how to get iPhone Se working again please?
According to the instructions written on the mobile, connect to iTunes and follow the instructions again
I did that but nothing seems to happen /no download indicator/*…
In the upper right corner there is an arrow to see if something is downloading
thanks a lot, downloading, 16 minutes left….
It's okay :), let it download and install successfully, if the same problem occurs after that, you have to restore the iPhone completely
and how to restore iPhone from this state to factory settings please??
In iTunes, you cannot update but restore
i use an ipad and had an iphone 4s and never experienced anything like this until now with the Se
so what .. does Siri already know Czech? :D
Attention iPhone 6s requires connection to iTunes after the update (this happened to me for the first time in my life)?
same with me
iPhone SE the same ;)
The son updated the iPhone SE quite smoothly and did not say anything about the need to connect iTunes.
What the hell did they do, I don't have iTunes or the ability to connect to it anywhere now, what can I do about it? This wasn't written anywhere, knowing it, I'm sorry for it. I need a phone urgently.
iTunes shows me 4 hours to download. Luckily I have an iPad and don't need an iPhone today but it's horrible, I've never had a problem updating. The main thing is that it took them until today to release it.
Big disappointment, I don't know if they are repeated after Windows, there are always problems with the team during major updates, but this happened to me for the first time with Apple
So iTunes doesn't see my phone at all after the 12.5.1 update. Has this happened to anyone else?
Turn off and on iTunes and try again
Off. On. Reinstalled. Restarted. No effect.
Do you have a Macbook or a Windows PC?
Win 10
That'll be the team :/ my iPhone sees me fine on the mac, try downloading an older version of iTunes
It won't let me update iOS again. It's a trap.
Lets, on version 9.3.5 :) and then from this version on iPhone you can already on iOS10
I had the same problem, this helped https://support.apple.com/sk-sk/HT204095#update
The trick is that Wokna iPhone can be seen and correctly detected, only iTunes can't see it.
Win10 saw it for me too, but iTunes didn't, I had to reinstall the driver. I went to the directory C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers and in it I right-clicked on the usbaapl64.inf file and let it install. Then within seconds iTunes showed me the iPhone.
Aaah. Vrsko wins the golden maze. Thank you man.
Lol. I'm on the final version of iOS 10.0.1 from scratch, I got it because I signed up for the beta program. After installing iOS, I logged out again. These problems are beyond me :-))) OTA update sent on the first try on both iPhone and iPad :-)))))
So I can't even restore on my iPhone 6s :-( I don't know what to do anymore.
iPhone 6s updated via iTunes after failure and everything is fine now.
iPhone 6, 64gb - Wi-Fi update went smoothly without any problems?
I am not able to upgrade to iPad Air 2. The installation downloads, takes a long time to verify the update and says the error “Unable to install update, there was an error installing ios10. Restarting or deleting and re-downloading ios10 didn't help. Does anyone know what to do with it?
