Apple has just released a new version of iOS, the operating system for iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. iOS 10 brings many new features including redesigned widgets, new form of notifications, deeper integration of 3D Touch or new Maps. Messages and the voice assistant Siri also received great improvements, mainly thanks to the opening to developers.

Compared to last year's iOS 9, this year's iOS 10 has slightly narrower support, especially for iPads. You install it on the following devices:

• iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus
• iPad 4, iPad Air and iPad Air 2
• Both iPad Pros
• iPad mini 2 and later
• Sixth generation iPod touch

You can download iOS 10 traditionally via iTunes, or directly on your iPhones, iPads and iPod touch v Settings > General > Software Update. In the first hours of iOS 10's release, some users encountered an error message that froze their iPhones or iPads and required them to connect to iTunes. However, some had to perform a restore and if they did not have a fresh backup before the update, they lost their data.

Apple has already responded to the problem: “We encountered a minor issue with the update process that affected a small number of users during the first hour of iOS 10 availability. The issue was quickly resolved and we apologize to these customers. Anyone affected by the issue should connect their device to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for assistance."

Now nothing should stand in the way of installing iOS 10 on all supported devices. If you have encountered the problem mentioned above and are still unable to find a solution, the following procedure should work.

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC and launch iTunes. We recommend downloading the latest version of iTunes 12.5.1 from the Mac App Store, which brings support for iOS 10, before proceeding.
  2. Now it is necessary to put the iOS device into Recovery mode. You can access it by holding down the Home button and the device's on/off button. Hold both buttons until the Recovery mode starts.
  3. A message should now pop up in iTunes prompting you to update or restore your device. Click on Update and continues the installation process.
  4. If the installation takes more than 15 minutes, repeat steps 1 to 3. It's also possible that Apple's servers are still overloaded.
  5. Once the installation is complete, you can start using your iPhone or iPad with iOS 10.

In addition to iOS 10, a new operating system for the Watch called watchOS 3 is now available. It primarily brings a significant increase in the application launch speed, changed control method and higher stamina.

To install watchOS 3, you will first need to install iOS 10 on your iPhone, then open the Watch app and download the update. Both devices must be within Wi-Fi range, the Watch must have at least 50% battery charge and be connected to a charger.

Today's final update is tvOS TV software update to version 10. Also new tvOS it is now possible to download and thus enrich your Apple TV with interesting news, such as an improved Photos application, a night mode or a smarter Siri, which can now search for films not only based on the title, but also, for example, by topic or period. So if you ask Siri for "car documentaries" or "high school comedies from the 80s", Siri will understand and comply. In addition, Apple's new voice assistant also searches YouTube, and the Apple TV can also be used as a controller for HomeKit-enabled devices.
