Finally, today we got the iBooks application for iPhone! I thought iBooks would be coming to the App Store later, but you can download it today!
The new version of iBooks is designed for both iPad and, now, iPhone. And it brings a lot of new things. For example, you can open a PDF attachment in an email in iBooks. This PDF document will then be added to your library and you can return to it at any time.
Bookmarks are also new. You can not only highlight a certain passage of text, but you can also add notes or bookmark the entire page. These bookmarks can then be synced between iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The Georgia font was added, and now you don't have to read the text only on a white background, but also, for example, on a sepia background. Text alignment options are also tweaked here, and iBooks is noticeably faster and reportedly more stable.
Don't hesitate a minute and download the iBooks application!
Great! :)
Isn't there something in cydia that would force the information that it has iOS 4 on my iPod? Well, otherwise I probably won't get it there.. :(
maybe in time..
No backend program is needed for that.
Just overwrite the version in System/Library/CoreServices (SystemVersion.plist.
well, there are apps for that, which are less, I think it's in cydia in the system, but I don't know, I don't have it anymore, but I had it on 3.1.2, and it looked on my iPhone that it had version 0.0.0 XD
yes, iBooks have 15 MB
I have iOS 3 installed on my iPhone 4Gs and download iBooks and so far I am happy.
Can anyone give me some advice, when I try to download it, it tells me that it is not possible to complete the download and I have to go to the PC. when i download it via itunes it only downloads the ipad version
I have the same problem
it still only downloads iBooks for iPad v. 1.0.1 instead of 1.1 for iPhone too :(
So for those who can't, just check for updates after downloading the iPad version and the iPhone version will be downloaded :-)
I normally download iBooks from the AppStore on my iPhone and everything works fine.
and are they going to take your books from the store?? because not me, neither from SK nor from the US :(
I restarted the book and it downloaded fine
erm.. and where/how can I download those books?
I'm a llama, I know..
there is a Store in the application..
Everything is going OK now :)
So I downloaded it for the RUR exam and I have a problem. The text doesn't seem to fit on my screen. Is it just because it's the iPad version or is it a setting?
So it will probably be the book... I tried another book and it runs fine :-)
too too…
exactly the same problem, I was quite surprised that they released an unchecked book. plus the fact that ibooks is incredibly slow on 3G :-( so I stay at the station
My iPhone asks me to upgrade the software to 3.2, so I still have to wait for this necessary intermediate step before downloading, but I'm already curious about iBooks :)
The problem with me is that I can't download any book, it keeps downloading it, I let it download for about 40 minutes and I still have the status indicator, do you know what the problem could be?
I have the same problem. iBooks shows the blue list of downloads, I let the book download all night, and in the morning it was as good as night.
I managed to download one book the other day, but as soon as it was downloaded, iBooks gave a nice animation, like an implosion, and the book disappeared. When I then synced the phone with the Macbook, the book appeared in the iTunes library. in ibooks, however, the shelves are just empty.
I downloaded/installed ibooks several times, I tried to sync the book with my mac, but I couldn't even get it there
Does anyone have a similar experience and could you advise what to do with it? for me this app is just a pretty icon...
it is an installation on an iPhone 3G, thanks for the advice
Don't know how to get the PDF there? in my email it only opens the first page of the PDF and there is nothing in iBooks, it is a special drive, it at least opened the whole pdf in the email with multiple parties, we already tried it with two pdfs and the result is the same... does anyone have the same problem?
Everything is going well for me :) perfection itself
Well, I have the same problem with the pdf... I don't understand :( I would also like some advice... the pdf will only open the first page in the email, and I don't know how to get it into iBooks :(
I also have a problem when I send a pdf book to my email, only the first page is displayed in my email and nothing in ibooks. Please advise how to get the book from email to ibooks. The second thing I didn't figure out how to set: I was used to pressing 2Xhome to favorite numbers. You don't know how to assign an abbreviation to it :) Thank you all for your patience.
I have an iPhone 3G. I sent the pdf by e-mail, but the "open in iBooks" button is not offered anywhere in the mail application, as they say in the manuals that it should be. it shows only the first thorn. The pdf can therefore not be read either in iBooks or in e-mail, as before. Can anyone help?
Here is the answer to the problem with saving attachments in iBooks: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2469728&start=15&tstart=15
The claim is that Stanza is to blame and that it needs to be uninstalled. :(
And at the same time advice - export books via iTunes (which I just successfully tried).
I just want to ask, do you also have strong lags when opening and when switching from portrait to landscape mode? Then tested books from Guttenberg and itunes (epub) :(
Is the function of adjusting the size of the font and the background available for books from the store? I don't have these options for PDF books that I uploaded via iTunes. I have to note that the PDF book is practically unreadable for me when I have to enlarge each page separately and then slide it around the display. For now, it seems more meaningful to me to send the PDF to a website where it is converted to epub and then send it to Stanza via a link.
Petr, I have exactly the same problem, no solution yet
In my opinion, this is a very bad reader. There are almost no settings, there is too much free space on the sides, top and bottom. There should still be text there. And the whole thing is outrageously slow. It kind of disappointed me. I was expecting an app like apple. But this one doesn't act like that.
Just that it behaves exactly like apple... it's nice but slow and unusable ;-)

Well, in the case of a PDF document, this is due to the fact that they should preserve the graphic design of the page and the given font size and type.
You want something that the PDF format isn't built and designed for.
