That Apple, for example, is building its own car, following the example of Tesla, is already a well-known story that may well turn into reality in the future. Apple CEO Tim Cook anyway again confirmed that autonomous systems as such are definitely of interest to his company.

The so-called the Titan project, within which it has Apple to develop its own autonomous and electric car, apparently still running in Cupertino, but vehicles are far from the only place Apple could use autonomous systems.

"We are very focused on autonomous systems. We are working on a big project and we are investing a lot in it. From our point of view, autonomy is something like the mother of all AI projects," he repeated during announcement of financial results Cook what he said a while ago. But now we also have the context of those investments.

The California giant spent nearly $2017 billion on research and development in the third quarter of fiscal 3, up $377 million year-on-year. Over the past six months, Apple has already invested $5,7 billion in this way, which is a huge number.

“Autonomous systems can be used in different ways. There is only one vehicle, but there are other different areas of use. And I don't want to elaborate on it in any way," said the head of Apple during a conference call with investors, whose company now has more than $261 billion in cash and thus definitely has resources for R&D.

Of course, not all funds go into the development of autonomous systems, but it is quite possibly the largest yet undisclosed project that Apple is working on. However, there can be a wide range of uses, as autonomous systems can be deployed both in production and, for example, in drones and other consumer products. However, Apple's interest is definitely there.
