Apple announced today on its website that it will replace faulty SSD drives in MacBook Airs that are at risk of failure and subsequent data loss. This affects the 64GB and 128GB storage found in MacBook Airs sold between June 2012 and June 2013.
To mark the occasion, Apple released an update MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1 in the Mac App Store to test the drive to determine if it is defective. If you are subsequently referring to this Apple Support page, then the problem concerns you. The company recommends that you do not install any new applications or operating system updates yet, and that you regularly back up your data, ideally via Time Machine (System Preferences > Time Machine).
Defective discs will be replaced by authorized services, a list of which can be found at this page. There are several services in the Czech Republic - Czech service, ATS, Directcom or VSP Data. The site will select the nearest service for you according to your location, and you need to contact a specific service for disk replacement. You can also get more information from Apple phone support at 800 700 527.
Can it also be applied to macbooks that are no longer under warranty?
anus.
and how should I proceed if I have win7 in air, how to find out?
Why did you use OSX? :D and replaced it with winom? ... so you have to install osx on the SSD, otherwise you won't get it.
I was glad that I got the osx from air.
So let's see if ssd kneels….
Otherwise, I recommend it to everyone - air with wine is amazing!!!
Air is a great hw and win is a great sw - just two pluses, I give only a plus
Not sure if serious or just trolling.
This is of course none other than our regular troll Horst.
Win7 in Air :)))))))) well you….
I lost the disk 2 months ago. I have air mid-2012. I've been waiting a month! to change the disk, and in addition, a couple of weeks ago, my backup went wrong and Time Machine stopped backing up (every backup attempt ended with error sounds). So I dreamed about data launch. Plus the monthly wait. Well, I was pretty pissed at the end.
My air mid-2012 disk left about 3 weeks ago, Time Machine backup is fine and warranty service in Brno at Czech service. I loaded it at 8:00 on Monday and left on Thursday afternoon with the SSD replaced. Plus it took them so long just to wait for a replacement part. ;)
:) It is nice. I was at ITS and of course they were also waiting for a replacement disk that month.
If you had windows in air and backed up using bit copies and dropbox, you wouldn't have these problems.
I'm doing it this way because my whole company is running on air - I can't afford to lose data just like that
It doesn't offer me anything in the appstore, I have a 256 GB disk, so I hope it doesn't affect me.
Read the second sentence…
I know, I just thought that the update is for everyone and the problem is with 64 and 128 Giga.
he sent it to me after three months.. it came back repaired on the 30th day of the complaint.. it's a bit of a shame that Apple is not able to arrange replacement parts for such an expensive machine, when you see that it's a massive problem.. maybe everything will be problem-free now ..
I downloaded from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1690 and it said to me on startup “This software is not supported by your computer.” What? Bought Air August 2012
