Apple announced today on its website that it will replace faulty SSD drives in MacBook Airs that are at risk of failure and subsequent data loss. This affects the 64GB and 128GB storage found in MacBook Airs sold between June 2012 and June 2013.

To mark the occasion, Apple released an update MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1 in the Mac App Store to test the drive to determine if it is defective. If you are subsequently referring to this Apple Support page, then the problem concerns you. The company recommends that you do not install any new applications or operating system updates yet, and that you regularly back up your data, ideally via Time Machine (System Preferences > Time Machine).

Defective discs will be replaced by authorized services, a list of which can be found at this page. There are several services in the Czech Republic - Czech service, ATS, Directcom or VSP Data. The site will select the nearest service for you according to your location, and you need to contact a specific service for disk replacement. You can also get more information from Apple phone support at 800 700 527.
