It seems that there could be a minor revolution in iOS 10. In fact, Apple developers indicated in the code of some applications that soon it might finally be possible to hide default applications that the user does not need in iPhones and iPads.

This is a relatively minor issue, but users have been calling for this option for several years. Every year, a new application from Apple appears in iOS, which many people do not use, but must have on their desktop because it cannot be hidden. This often creates folders full of icons of native applications that just get in the way.

The head of Apple, Tim Cook, already last September admitted that they are addressing this issue, but that it is not entirely easy. "This is a much more complex problem than it might seem. Some apps are linked to others, and removing them could cause problems elsewhere on your iPhone. But other applications are not like that. I think that over time we will figure out how to remove the ones that aren't.”

Apparently, developers have already figured out a way to safely remove some of their apps. Code elements -- "isFirstParty" and "isFirstPartyHideableApp" -- appeared in iTunes metadata, confirming the ability to hide default apps.

At the same time, it was confirmed that it will not be possible to completely hide all applications, as Cook also indicated. For example, applications such as Actions, Compass or Dictaphone can be hidden, and we can hope that it will eventually be possible to hide as many of them as possible.

In addition, Apple Configurator 2.2 provided a hint about this upcoming step some time ago, in which it was possible to remove native applications for the corporate and educational markets.
