Apple is expanding its efforts to protect the environment and, together with ten partner suppliers, will invest in the China Clean Energy Fund for the promotion of renewable resources for four years. The Californian giant itself is investing 300 million dollars. The main goal is to produce at least 1 gigawatt of energy from renewable sources, which can, for example, supply energy to up to a million households.

“At Apple, we're proud to join companies working to address climate change. We are excited that many of our suppliers are participating in the fund and hope that this model can be used globally to help businesses of all sizes create a significant positive impact on our planet.” said Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives.

Apple explains that the transition to clean energy can be difficult, for example, for smaller companies that may not have access to clean energy sources. However, the fund that has just been established should help them, and Apple hopes that it will help them achieve various solutions.

They are also working with their suppliers to find new ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They even recently achieved a breakthrough technology with aluminum suppliers that eliminates direct greenhouse gases from traditional smelting processes, which is certainly a big advance.
