This autumn is a bit strange for Apple. It was classically started by the new iPhones, in which the professional models are doing extremely well, but the basic ones have completely failed. Then came the new iPads, which are only rejuvenating between generations, while it is said that we will not see Mac computers this year. But this is a problem for the company because it can miss a strong Christmas season with them.

According to the analyst Bloomberg's Mark Gurman new Mac computers are not expected until the first quarter of 2023. They should be 14 and 16" MacBook Pros based on the M2 chip, Mac mini and Mac Pro. This was indirectly confirmed by Tim Cook himself in a report on the company's financial management, when he stated that: "the product line is already set for 2022." Since he also talked about the Christmas season, it means that we shouldn't expect anything new from Apple until the end of the year.

Sales will naturally decline

Even after the new iPhones, it was hoped that Apple would hold a Keynote before the end of the year. But when he released the 10th generation iPad, the iPad Pro with the M2 chip and the new Apple TV 4K only in print form, those hopes were practically taken for granted, although we could still hope for at least more prints. Presenting new products before the Christmas season clearly has its advantages, because it is during the Christmas season that people are willing to spend a few extra crowns, perhaps even with regard to new electronics.

Last year's MacBook Pro variants with the M1 chip were a hit, as was the MacBook Air with the M2 chip, which saw Apple's PC segment grow this summer. These machines brought not only performance, but also a new pleasing design referring to the times before 2015. The MacBook Pros were then ideally aimed at the Christmas period. But if Apple does not introduce their successors this year, customers have two options - buy the current generation or wait. But neither one is good for them, and the other is of course not good for Apple either.

The crisis is still here

If they buy the current generation and Apple introduces their successor in the first three months of 2023, the new owners will be angry because they paid the same money for inferior equipment. They would just have to wait. But even that waiting is not beneficial, if you take into account that you just want to hit the Christmas season. But Apple may have to wait, even if it probably doesn't want to.

The chip situation is still bad, so is the global economy, and while iPads may not have deserved some attention, Macs may be different. It is precisely with regard to the Mac Pro that Apple will certainly want to show what it can do in the desktop segment, even if it will not be a sales blockbuster due to the price, it will mainly be about showing off its capabilities.

The Mac Pro is not expected to go on sale immediately. After all, it wasn't almost always like that, and there was usually a long wait for him after his introduction. But if Apple couldn't even sell its MacBooks because it simply didn't have enough, it could have an even bigger impact on its sales. This is how the older generation can sell, albeit on a smaller scale, which sounds better than selling nothing when the warehouses are empty. One way or another, it is clear that this year's Christmas season for Apple, with regard to the sales of the computer segment, will be significantly weaker than last year's.
