In addition to the fact that pre-orders for the new iPhone X began on Friday, Apple also posted a reminder on its website for all developers to update their apps as soon as possible (ideally within this week) so that they can be used with the iPhone X as best and most efficiently as possible. You can view the message posted on developer.apple.com here.
If you're an iOS app developer and you still haven't optimized your app for the new iPhone X, Apple strongly recommends that you do so as soon as possible. A message posted on the developer site is clear.
Official iPhone X Gallery:
Apple is encouraging developers to take advantage of the new ARKit, as well as the new super-powerful A11 Bionic processor that powers all new iPhones. Developers can also take advantage of the new CoreML interface for machine learning (Machine Learning) and the Metal 2 graphics API. In addition, developers have a new version of Xcode 9.0.1 developer tools available for download at this link. Optimizing apps for the iPhone X will be the most important, especially with regard to the display area. It is somewhat modified compared to current iPhones due to the different resolution and the presence of a cut-out located on the top of the display. Therefore, it is very likely that non-optimized applications will look a bit unfortunate on the new iPhone.

The applications will look unfortunate mainly because the cutout is unfortunate.. I really hope it won't spread to other devices.
The term “mainly because” is unfortunate…
It's up to the developers how they react to it, they are in the development of the application
bigger problems than just adapting to a non-standard display on a flagship.
100% will expand. At least on the iPad. Apple has removed the iconic home button and needs another element that will tell people at first glance that it is an Apple device. That's why the cutout is there. And that's why it will definitely be on iPads as well. Because no one would recognize the brand of the device in the case based on the display itself. Personally, I don't mind it, the cutout looks fine to me.
