Like a bolt from the blue, information appeared on the web that Apple allows downgrading from the operating system iOS 11 (and its various versions) to last year's iOS 10. This is so contrary to how it has worked until now. Shortly after the release of iOS 11, Apple made it impossible for users to go back to the previous version, saying that they stopped signing all versions of iOS 10. Many did not like this, because they could not try out the eleven and in case it caused them problems (which happened a lot), there was no way back. However, this is no longer the case, and if it is not a mistake that will be fixed in the next few hours, downgrading from iOS 11 to iOS 10 is now possible.

At the time of writing, according to the server ipsw.me to see which versions of iOS Apple currently signs, i.e. which can be officially installed on an iPhone or iPad. In addition to the three versions of iOS 11 (11.2, 11.2.1 and 11.2.2), there is also iOS 10.2, iOS 10.2.1 and iOS 10.3. The installation files are available at the website linked above. Here you just choose the type of device you want to downgrade to, choose the version of the software you want to download and install it using iTunes.

Thanks to this step, those who are not satisfied with the new operating system for some reason can return to a version of iOS 10. Apple signs older versions of iOS for all iPhones since the iPhone 5. It is not yet clear if this is a permanent solution or if it is more of a bug on Apple's part. So if iOS 11 doesn't suit you and you want to go back, you have a unique opportunity to do it now (if it's really a bug that Apple will fix in the next few minutes/hours). Interestingly, it is currently possible to officially revert to even older versions of iOS, such as iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 7. However, this itself indicates that this is a mistake.

Update: Currently everything is fixed, downgrade is no longer possible.
