At first glance, the color design of the iMac Pro will definitely catch your eye. Apple used the popular space gray color for its biggest computer for the first time, but that's not the most important thing that differentiates it from the classic iMac. It's all about performance, and it's huge in the iMac Pro.
The computer, which is expected to go on sale in December, will be the most powerful Mac ever. Probably until Apple actually shows the new Mac Pro as well. He is working on it together with new displays, but in the meantime he wants to satisfy the most demanding users at least with a powerful iMac. Although he won't come right away.
The iMac Pro will have a 27-inch 5K display (improved like the new iMacs), can accommodate up to 18-core Xeon processors and offer massive graphics performance. It will thus be built for real-time 3D rendering, advanced graphics editing, and virtual reality.
Apple engineers had to completely redesign the inside of the iMac and design a new thermal architecture to cool such high performance. The result is 80 percent more cooling capacity, making it possible to run more powerful "Pro" internals in the same iMac body. Among them are the most advanced graphics that Apple has ever put into computers.
These are upcoming next-generation Radeon Pro Vega graphics chips with a new computing core and 8GB or 16GB of high-throughput memory (HMB2). Such an iMac Pro can deliver 11 teraflops at normal accuracy, which you can use for real-time 3D rendering or a higher frame rate for VR, and up to 22 teraflops at half accuracy, which is useful for example in machine learning.
At the same time, the iMac Pro will offer an enormous operating memory, up to 128GB, so that it can easily handle several very demanding tasks at the same time. This is also helped by a super-powerful up to 4TB flash storage with a throughput of 3 GB/s.
In the iMac Pro, the user gets four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, to which up to two high-performance RAID arrays and two 5K displays can be connected at once. For the first time, the iMac Pro model gets 10Gb Ethernet for up to 10 times faster connections.
But to make matters worse, we still have to go back to that cosmic black color. In this variant, Apple has also prepared a wireless Magic Keyboard, in which the numeric keypad returns, as well as Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad. White wireless Magic Keyboard with numeric part can buy now for 4 crowns.
The new iMac Pro will go on sale in December and will start at $4. Czech prices are not yet known, but we can count on at least 999 thousand crowns.
And the new Mac Pro will cost the same as a new upper mid-range car…
