For a long time now, Apple has been treading carefully around the video content that it wants to start supplying its Apple Music streaming service alongside the main music component. In the coming months, he should fully step into the video with his own content.

At the Code Media conference this week, Apple's vice president Eddy Cue, who, among other things, is in charge of Apple Music and related matters, spoke. Cue explained to those present that his company wants to focus on creating unique content that is somehow different from the competition and at the same time takes advantage of its streaming platform.

Reality show about apps

The first significant work in the field of own "television" content there will be a show Planet of the Apps, which will be a bit of a reality show headed by celebrities like Will.i.am or Jessica Alba. Apple has now released the first trailer, showing what its first product will look like.

On Apple Music it should Planet of the Apps arrive in the spring and it will be a similar concept as, for example, in his show Day D used years ago by Czech Television. IN Planet of the Apps developers will have a chance to present their applications and "sell" their ideas to the star judges.

Will.i.am (behind the company/brand i.am+), Jessica Alba (The Honest Co.), Gwyneth Paltrow (Goop) and Gary Vaynerchuk (Vayner Media) will evaluate individual projects. They have behind them both successes with their own projects and investments, as well as high venture capital, with which they can subsequently help developers - if they approach them. In addition, Product Hunt or Lightspeed Venture Partners are also counting on investments in selected projects.

In addition, the most successful developers will not only receive someone from the mentioned four as a mentor and possible capital, but will also receive a special space in the App Store, where an application directly for the show will appear Planet of the Apps.

Popular James Corden

In the coming months, another new show is coming to Apple Music, but this time it is not entirely Apple's own creation. Last summer, the Californian firm bought the rights to the popular show Carpool Karaoke, which in its The Late Late Show made famous by James Corden.

Also on this show called Carpool Karaoke: The Series, Apple released the first trailers in which it confirms the already announced slight change in concept. James Corden will not be the main character, but various celebrities will alternate in the role of presenters and guests in individual episodes.

We can look forward to joint rides, in which there will be not only singing, various celebrities, including James Corden, Will Smith, Billy Eichner, Metallica, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Ariana Grande, Seth MacFarlane, Chelsea Handler, Blake Shelton, Michael Strahan, John Cena or Shaquille O'Neal.

Not yet the Netflix acquisition

Both shows should launch on Apple Music in the spring, probably in April, and the California company wants to support its streaming service even more and expand it with more than just music content. At the same time, it wants to differentiate itself from, for example, competitor Spotify, which still holds the first position among music streaming services.

In connection with Apple's increased efforts in the area of its own media creation, it is increasingly being talked about that Tim Cook and co. in the end, he could reach into the company's coffers and buy, for example, the successful Netflix. According to Eddy Cue, however, Apple wants to try to create something a little different and is not planning a similar large acquisition.

"Maybe it would be easier if we bought someone or created this kind of content, but we don't want that," said Cue in the address of today's traditional creation, for example, from the workshop of Netflix. “We're trying to do something that's unique, that takes advantage of our platform and ultimately adds some culture to it. And that's what we think we can do now with partners like Ben. We don't see it anywhere else.'

By Ben he meant Cue producer Ben Silverman, who performed with him on Code Media and just for the show, for example Planet of the Apps it costs Apple now wants to try another way, which the purchase of current series does not represent for now. Before long, we should see for ourselves how successful this journey will be.
