Already during the premiere of Apple TV+ this spring, in addition to the content offer, the fact that all films and series available within the service will be in 4K resolution and with support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos standards was highlighted. Now after execution first tests in addition, it turns out that Apple TV+ offers the highest quality 4K image of all current streaming services. The available shows are even better in terms of picture quality than most movies in iTunes.

For streaming services, in addition to the image resolution, the bitrate of the video is also an important parameter, i.e. how many bits or megabits of the given information are transferred in one second. While, for example, Netflix offers an average bitrate of 4 Mb/s for 16K video, this value is approximately double for Apple TV+. For example, with the series See the average bitrate is around 29 Mb/s, the maximum even climbed to 41 Mb/s. Document The Elephant Queen has an average video bitrate of 26 Mb/s.

Films and series on Apple TV+ thus perform even better in terms of this parameter than in the example of classic HD Blu-ray discs, which offer up to 2 times lower video bitrate. On the other hand, UHD Blu-ray discs still fare a bit better - here the video bitrate is about twice as high as Apple TV+.

Anyway, in the world of streaming services, Apple TV+ is by far the best, at least when it comes to 4K picture quality. However, in order to use all the benefits of the service, it is also necessary to own the appropriate equipment that supports not only 4K resolution, but also Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
