A new Apple Store was opened in Berlin, Germany, which became one of the closest Apple stores to the Czech Republic. Martin described his experiences from the opening in Kurfürstendamm:

It started at 17 pm, I got in half an hour after the official opening time. I couldn't leave work early, so I sent my girlfriend to stand in line for me. She arrived at the Apple Store earlier and at that moment there were only a few enthusiasts staying at the entrance with fishing chairs.

When I got to the shop, there were already around 1500 people waiting at the place. In total, the line from the Kurfürstendamm could stretch about 800 m from the main entrance. Those interested in visiting the Apple Store were divided into a total of six sectors. At the end of each you got a card of different colors which you handed in at the start of the next sector. My girlfriend handed me a dream ticket to Apple paradise while passing from the penultimate to the last sector. Even so, I had to stand in line for half an hour. My nervousness increased the closer I got to the main entrance. There were bodyguards standing here, who were gradually letting individual groups of about ten people into the Apple Store.

Inside the Apple Store

I was completely absorbed by the atmosphere created by the salesmen in blue T-shirts at the entrance of the store. And then it came, the Bodyguard said, "GO, GO!" and I walked in to the applause and cheers of the vendors who were clustered in the aisle. Of course, I also whistled, slapped a couple of salespeople, and took a white box with a t-shirt that said Apple KurFÜRstendamm Berlin.

I didn't even know where to go the first steps. I just shot everything around chaotically and thought to myself: You're here, honey! It was body to body inside. People were more likely to take pictures and videos than play or try products.

The entire Berlin store is in the spirit of Apple, as we are used to it. I like the look of it, but I can't compare it to my favorite on Regent Street. The main sales room is approximately square in shape and as you walk through it you are still greeted by salespeople wearing blue T-shirts. Apple states that the customer should be able to communicate in twelve world languages in its stores - yet English was heard everywhere rather than German.

In the Apple Store in Berlin, I sat down next to one of the MacBooks with a Retina display. Suddenly a film crew appeared, circling around me and filming. When he disappeared, a lady from the crew had me sign a consent form to use the footage. Then she took one more picture of me with him and left. So maybe I'll show up in some TV shot.

didn't experience the first opening day of the new Apple Store and I'm glad I was lucky enough to be in Berlin. I had the impression that a lot of people just went to look rather than buy anything. Apple is not just a company that produces consumer goods. Apple can even cause crowd frenzy by opening a new store or starting to sell a new product. I don't know how they do it, but my first step into an Apple Store made me feel like a climber on a mountain.
