In the offer of apple headphones, we can find three model series, from basic to professional ones. Thanks to this, the giant covers a much larger group of potential users. Specifically, the basic AirPods (in their 2nd and 3rd generation), the 2nd generation AirPods Pro and the AirPods Max headset are offered. With its appearance, Apple headphones literally set a new trend and significantly popularized the segment of wireless headphones. So it's no wonder that it enjoys incredible popularity all over the world.

Unfortunately, it is not for nothing that they say that all that glitters is not gold. While AirPods and AirPods Pro are a huge success, the same cannot be said for the Max model. Their fundamental problem lies in the price itself. Apple charges less than 16 thousand crowns for them. But to make matters worse, this model is accompanied by a rather fundamental problem that the giant tries to ignore all the time. But complaints from users keep piling up.

Condensation and potential risk

The basic problem is condensation. As the earphones are made of cold aluminum and have no ventilation, it is quite common for them to start to dew on the inside after wearing them for a while. Something like this is understandable, for example, when playing sports, when a person naturally sweats, which can result in such a situation. But with AirPods Max, we don't have to go that far - just use the headphones for a long time, without any physical activity, and the problem will suddenly appear. Although many Apple users are of the opinion that this is not a fault of the headphones, but a bad use by the user, the problem is really real and poses a risk to the product itself. At worst, it's only a matter of time before these condensation issues spell the inevitable end of the headphones.

Condensation can gradually get inside the headphones themselves and cause corrosion of important components that take care of the overall power supply and sound of both earcups. The contacts simply corrode. In the first place, therefore, there will be problems with buzzing, static, accidental disconnection, loss of active noise cancellation (ANC), which over time will result in the already mentioned end of the headphones as such. Given that a number of such statements by the users themselves, who even attached pictures of corroded contacts and dewy shells, have already appeared on discussion forums, there is no doubt that this is a relatively serious, and above all, real problem.

Apple's approach

But Apple opted for a slightly different strategy. He ignores the existence of the problem and apparently has no intention of solving it. So, if an Apple user's headphones stop working completely and he wants to solve the problem directly in the Apple Store within the scope of the annual coverage, he will unfortunately not be successful. Since it is not possible to perform the repair directly in Stor, they will be sent to the service center. According to the statements of the users, they subsequently receive a message that they have to pay for the repair - specifically in the amount of 230 pounds or over 6 thousand crowns. But no one will get an explanation - at most pictures of corroded contacts. Considering that the AirPods Max are supposed to be the best in Apple's headphone lineup, Apple's approach is quite disturbing. Headphones worth 16 crowns are already practically doomed.

Apple buyers who bought their headphones in a European Union country are a little better off. According to European legislation, every new item purchased from a professional seller in the EU is covered by a two-year warranty period, during which the specific seller is responsible for any product defect. This specifically means that if the product is used correctly, the repair must be resolved and paid for.
