Apple today released OS X Mountain Lion, which can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for 15,99 euros. From there, along with the introduction of the new operating system, its predecessor also disappeared - OS X Lion is no longer available in the Mac App Store (it cannot be accessed via direct link, nor search for it or find it in the rankings).

Removing Lion from the Mac App Store is a logical step. Apple wants users to buy the latest OS 10.8 Mountain Lion, which is also upgradeable from Snow Leopard, so Lion is not needed. In addition, Mountain Lion is ten euros (or dollars) cheaper than its predecessor, so the presence of both systems would only create confusion.
