Apple today released OS X Mountain Lion, which can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for 15,99 euros. From there, along with the introduction of the new operating system, its predecessor also disappeared - OS X Lion is no longer available in the Mac App Store (it cannot be accessed via direct link, nor search for it or find it in the rankings).
Removing Lion from the Mac App Store is a logical step. Apple wants users to buy the latest OS 10.8 Mountain Lion, which is also upgradeable from Snow Leopard, so Lion is not needed. In addition, Mountain Lion is ten euros (or dollars) cheaper than its predecessor, so the presence of both systems would only create confusion.
Well, what if I bought a Lion license and want to use it on my devices... then I'll never get to them again
But yes, there are instructions on how to do it on applecari :)
I guess I don't understand the question, because if you bought Lion, of course you still have it available for download in Purchases.
so if I have an older MAC that is no longer supported, they are in ….
so I didn't think of it... can't it be downloaded from torrent and authorized via apple id during installation?
personally I would say no
Apple responded to the complaints about the absence of Lion and said that they will comment on it, so I'm curious how...
Apple has an interesting policy... I personally have Snow Leopard now, my computer no longer supports Mountain Lion and I can't buy Lion anymore. This step is not logical at all, but just embarrassingly sloppy... I personally don't see anything logical about Apple not allowing people to switch to the system that is the highest for their device. So I don't agree that Lion is no longer needed - there are still plenty of Mac computers in the world that can switch to it and for whom it is already the last possibility of updating. At least for such users, the Lion could be displayed, and for all others, only Mountain Lion would be displayed. Writing such code is not difficult, and not at all for Apple. It's on the file to see how Apple has thought about it... anyone who hasn't bought Lion by now is out of luck and is literally forced to buy a new computer with Mountain Lion.
