Apple TV+ has launched. At eight o'clock this morning, Apple launched its long-awaited video streaming service, marking a major milestone in the company's new era. Apple TV+ can be tried out by almost anyone at first, so let's summarize how to activate its free membership, where you can watch it everywhere, and what movies and series it initially offers.

How much does Apple TV+ cost?

Anyone interested in Apple TV+ can try the service free for a week. The condition is to have an account created with Apple (Apple ID) and to have a payment card added to it. You can get a free weekly subscription at any time, it is not necessary to activate it today. After the trial period, Apple TV+ will cost CZK 139 per month for up to six members as part of family sharing. The amount will be automatically charged to your debit/credit card, so if you do not wish to continue with the paid membership, you must cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings while still in the trial period.

How to get a free annual subscription

Apple also offers Apple TV+ for free for a year under certain conditions. The event applies to everyone who has purchased a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or Apple TV since September 10. The annual subscription must be activated within 3 months after the purchase (activation) of the device. So, for example, if you find a new Apple product under the Christmas tree and activate it that day (you log it into the mobile network or Wi-Fi), you must start the annual subscription no later than March 24.

To get a year of Apple TV+ for free, just be signed in with your Apple ID on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or Apple TV that was purchased after September 10. You can activate your annual membership anywhere Apple TV+ can be watched - just follow the same steps as if you want to subscribe to the service as standard. Activation does not need to be done on a specific device, Apple knows that a new product is registered under your account and will automatically offer you an annual Apple TV+ everywhere. Even the annual subscription automatically applies to the whole family, i.e. up to 6 members within family sharing.

Where to watch Apple TV+

Apple has made sure that Apple TV+ is available basically everywhere. You can primarily access it through the Apple TV application on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Apple TV, while you must have iOS 13, iPadOS 13, macOS Catalina and tvOS 13 installed. You can also find the application of the same name on several smart TVs of competing brands ( Samsung, LG, Sony) and on Roku or Amazon Fire TV devices. In addition, Apple TV+ can also be watched through a web browser, so from practically anywhere, at tv.apple.com.

Is the content in Czech?

The interface of the Apple TV application on Apple devices is completely in Czech, including the description of individual programs. All films and series offer Czech subtitles, dubbing in Czech is not available and it is not expected that anything will change in this regard in the future.

Movies and series available on Apple TV+

A total of 8 series and documentaries are available on Apple TV+ from day one. For most series, the first three episodes are available, with more being released gradually over the coming days to weeks. Other programs will gradually be added and, for example, the psychological thriller Servant will arrive on November 28.

We can look forward to Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston or Steve Carell in the main roles of the drama series, the plot of the series will take place in the environment of the world of morning news. The series The Morning Show will offer viewers the opportunity to look into the lives of the people who accompany Americans when they get up in the morning.

For All Mankind

The For All Mankind series comes from the creative workshop of Ronald D. Moore. Its plot tells the story of what would happen if the space program continued to remain the cultural centerpiece of American dreams and hopes, and if the "space race" between America and the rest of the world never ended. Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman or Sarah Jones will star in the series.

Dickinson

The dark comedy series called Dickinson presents a very unconventional conception of the life story of the famous poet Emily Dickinson. In the series we can look forward to the participation of Hailee Steinfeld or Jane Krakowski, for example, in the series there will be no shortage of solving social, gender and other topics in the context of the given time.

Helpsters

Helpsters is an educational series, intended primarily for the youngest viewers. The series is the responsibility of the creators of the popular show "Sesame, open up", and the popular puppets will teach children the basics of programming and solving relevant problems. Whether it's planning a party, climbing a high mountain or learning a magic trick, little helpers can handle anything with the right plan.

Snoopy in space

The animated series Snoopy in Space is also aimed at children. The popular beagle Snoopy decides one day to become an astronaut. The Elephant Queen is an interesting documentary, described as "a love letter to an animal species on the brink of extinction". In the documentary, we can follow the majestic female elephant and her herd on their spectacular journey of life. The film draws us into the story, where there is no shortage of themes such as returning home, life, or loss.
