The term 5G network has recently been used mainly for Android devices, where quite a few companies produce 5G phones. Some companies will even start selling mobile phones with support for new generation networks in our market in the coming weeks. Again, Apple's approach is completely different from the competition. Here, too, the company adopts a rather conservative approach, which may not be bad at all.

5g network speed measurement

5G internet is slowly but surely spreading in Asia, the USA and several large European countries. In the Czech Republic, however, we still have at least a year or two waiting for us on the "proven" LTE before anything new even starts to be built. This year, an auction is planned, in which the operators will share the frequencies. Only then can the construction of the transmitters begin. In addition, the whole situation became even more complicated at the end of January, because the head of the Czech Telecommunications Office (ČTÚ) resigned precisely because of the frequency auction. At least from the point of view of the Czech Republic, it is not so terrible that Apple is taking its time with the support of 5G networks, since we would not use it anyway.

Of course, Apple hasn't revealed anything about when it will introduce the 5G iPhone. However, speculation is that this will happen already this fall. It will be advantageous especially for people who change their iPhone once every few years, because it is possible to count on the fact that in a few years they will get a taste of ultra-fast internet in the Czech Republic as well. However, for people who change their iPhone every year, support for 5G networks would mean nothing. And this is because it will be relatively difficult to come across new networks even abroad. Moreover, 4G networks are and will continue to be available at very good speeds, which are not too different from the first 5G networks. The reason against it can also be the higher demand on the battery, when in short 5G modems are not yet that tuned. We can see it now at Qualcomm modems X50, X55 and the latest X60. In each of these generations, one of the main innovations is energy saving.

What does the acronym 5G mean?

It is simply the fifth generation of mobile networks. In connection with the networks of the new generation, the most talked about is the acceleration of the Internet and downloads in tens of gigabytes per second. This is of course true, but at least in the first years these speeds will only be possible in a few places. After all, we can also monitor this on the current 4G network, where there are huge fluctuations in speed and you rarely get the promised values. With the advent of 5G networks, it is also expected that the mobile signal will reach places where the 4G network did not reach. In general, the signal will also be stronger in cities, so that the Internet can attract new smart products and better use the possibilities of a smart city.
