Apple won an Emmy for its Christmas ad "Misunderstood", which applied for the favor of the jury in the "exceptional advertisements" category. The TV spot aired during last year's Christmas holidays and also competed in its category with corporate ads General Electric, Nike and Budweiser.

The ad shows a misunderstood (hence the ad title Misunderstood) young teenager who always sits alone away from his holiday celebrating family playing with his iPhone 5s. Of course, the family doesn't really understand this, until the moment when the young boy plays a video on the TV full of nice holiday moments, which he captured and edited on his iPhone, via AirPlay technology.

The ad, which mainly shows the mutual cooperation of Apple products, was created by the advertising agency TBWA, which has been working with Apple for a long time. In the past, Apple has received a lot of criticism for its marketing efforts, and recently even discovered rumors that the Cupertino technology giant could end cooperation with the TBWA agency. Recently, advertisements have been evaluated quite critically, especially in comparison with rival Samsung's viral campaign.

But the latest award proves that the cooperation between Apple and marketing experts from TBWA also creates successful advertisements with touching stories and a perfect musical background that enhances the tone of the scene. In addition, Apple is now trying to devote more attention and resources to marketing and has hired some new experts in viral and social media advertising in recent months. In addition, Musa Tariq, former head of social media at Nike and Burberry, also came to Cupertino.

Below you can see the ads that were also in the running for the "outstanding" award:
