Apple works with major healthcare institutions, clinics and universities. The device users themselves will also be able to participate in the research.

The iOS 13 operating system will feature a new Research app that will allow interested Apple device users to join health research. The company has launched several researches across several areas:

  • Apple Women's Health Study - focusing on women and their health, a collaboration with Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and NIH's National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
  • Apple Heart and Movement Study - active lifestyle and heart study, collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital and the American Heart Association
  • Apple Hearing Study - research focused on hearing disorders, collaboration with the University of Michigan

The company has created completely new frameworks ResearchKit and CareKit, which will allow easier transfer of acquired data and their collection. However, the company pays attention to privacy and the data will be properly anonymized so that it cannot be clearly linked to your person.

However, those interested in research outside the US cannot participate, as all studies are regionally restricted.
