The launch of the expected movie streaming service from Apple is slowly approaching, and in connection with it, a new product should be in development, thanks to which a new competitor for Netflix et al. spread to as many users as possible. The Information came with the information that Apple is working on a truncated version of the Apple TV, which would be significantly smaller and cheaper, and its primary purpose would be to connect the user to the emerging platform.

According to the information published so far, it should be a similar product to Google Chromcast. That is, a "dongle" that you connect to your TV and which makes services otherwise available to Apple TV owners available to you. With the smaller size also comes limited functionality, and this new (and supposedly cheap - although one never knows what the word "cheap" actually means with Apple) adapter will not serve as a full-fledged Apple TV replacement. It should be intended primarily for those who consider the classic Apple TV unnecessary and will only be interested in a new streaming service focused on movies and series.

Apple TV in current versions costs from 4 crowns for the basic model, and 290, or 5 for the 190K version and 5 or 790 GB internal memory. The above-mentioned novelty should cost significantly less. If we look towards the competition, for example Google Chromecast is around 4 crowns. In the US, the popular Amazon Fire Stick costs even less. It can therefore be expected that if Apple really comes up with a similar product, its price will be around this level, maybe a little higher - say 32.

Apple's long-awaited streaming service is expected to arrive sometime next year, though it's still unclear when that will be. According to many, the launch date will be in the spring, but this is more wishful thinking than information based on any real basis. However, once launched, the service should be available in over a hundred countries around the world. In the past, there was talk that the service would be free for owners of iPhones, iPads and Apple TV. Other sources then talked about it being another subscription-based service like Apple Music.

However, given the limited initial library, it seems somewhat unrealistic that Apple would require regular monthly fees for access to a few movies, series and other projects. A potential connection of the service with an Apple Music subscription seems more likely. But even that is just speculation. We'll see how it really turns out sometime next year. Are you attracted to this newly developed Apple platform, or do you think it will not stand up to the competition of Netflix, Amazon Prime and others?
