A few days ago I was already thinking about the fact that Apple is somehow changing. If you think about his actions in a few days, you will realize that there were several steps that surprised many of us. Until some time ago, a person who does not follow the events in the world of Apple so much would have automatically concluded that all these steps must have been negative and in no way beneficial for customers. But he has now become the exact opposite and those steps are very positive. What actually happened and where is Apple headed now? We will look at that in this article.

iPhone 13 (Pro) battery expansion has begun

It all started a few months ago, specifically this September, when we saw the presentation of the new iPhone 13 (Pro). At first glance, these new phones from Apple are indistinguishable from last year's iPhone 12 (Pro). So the Californian giant continues to pave the way for angular devices with a perfect camera, first-class performance and a gorgeous display. In short and simply, another year has passed and Apple has come up with the next evolution of its phone. But a few days after the presentation, when the first pieces reached their first owners, it turned out that Apple had prepared a small (big) surprise for us inside.

iPhone 13 Pro under the hood

After several years of constantly narrowing Apple phones and shrinking the battery, Apple came up with the exact opposite. The iPhone 13 (Pro) is slightly stronger than its predecessors, but mainly offers a larger battery, which in a way is also due to the completely rearranged internals. It should be mentioned that this is not some miniature increase in capacity, but a relatively large one, see the table below. In this case, it was some kind of initial impulse, thanks to which it began to shine for better times, although many individuals did not count on this.

iPhone 13 mini vs. 12 minis 2406 mAh 2227 mAh
iPhone 13 vs. 12 3227 mAh 2815 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro vs. 12 For 3095 mAh 2815 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro Max vs. 12 For Max 4352 mAh 3687 mAh

Introducing the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro

The next step that Apple surprised us with came with the introduction of the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro. If you own one of the newer MacBooks, or if you are familiar with the world of Apple computers, then you know that until recently, MacBooks only offered Thunderbolt connectors and differed only in their number. Through Thunderbolt, we did everything from charging, connecting external drives and other accessories, to transferring data. This change came several long years ago and in a way it could be argued that users got used to it - what else was left for them.

All this time, many professional users have wished for the classic connectors that are used today and every day to return to MacBooks. When information appeared that MacBook Pros should come with a redesigned design and the return of connectivity, everyone believed only the first named. No one wanted to believe that Apple would be able to admit its mistake and return to its computers something that it had written off several years ago. But it really happened, and a few weeks ago we witnessed the presentation of the new MacBook Pro (2021), which, in addition to three Thunderbolt connectors, also has HDMI, an SD card reader, a MagSafe charging connector and a headphone jack. The arrival of classic USB-A doesn't make sense nowadays, so in this case the absence can be completely understood. So in this case, it was a second nudge that things might change at Apple.

Display replacement = non-functional Face ID on iPhone 13

A few paragraphs above I talked about the larger batteries in the latest iPhone 13 (Pro). On the other hand, there was very negative news in connection with the latest flagships from Apple. After the first few disassembly of these phones, in addition to the larger battery, it was found that if the display is replaced, preferably with an original piece, then Face ID will stop working. This news shook the world of repairmen, because most of them make a living from basic operations in the form of battery and display replacements - and let's face it, replacing a display with the irreversible loss of Face ID is simply not worth it to the customer. Professional repairmen began to study more and more the (im)possibility of replacing the display while preserving Face ID, and finally it turned out that there is a possibility of a successful repair after all. In this case, the repairman had to be proficient in microsoldering and resolder the control chip from the old display to the new one.

In the end, this too ended completely differently. After a few days, when most repairmen already started looking for microsoldering courses, a statement from Apple appeared on the Internet. It said that the non-functioning Face ID after the display replacement is only due to a software error, which will be removed shortly. All the repairmen were relieved at that moment, even though they had not yet won on the day of the announcement. I honestly expected Apple to take its time to fix this bug. In the end, however, it came almost immediately, specifically with the release of the second developer beta version of iOS 15.2, which was released a few days ago. So the fix for this bug will be available to the public in a few (weeks) days, in iOS 15.2. Anyway, whether it was really a mistake or an initial intention, I'll leave that up to you. So this case also has a good ending in the end.

Self Service Repair from Apple

While a short time ago it was clear from Apple that it did not want customers to have the opportunity to repair their Apple devices, exactly two days ago the Californian giant turned completely around - from extreme to extreme. It introduced a special Self Service Repair program, which gives all consumers access to original Apple parts as well as tools, manuals and schematics. It may seem like a big April Fool's joke, but we assure you that we are definitely not joking.

Of course, there are still a few unanswered questions regarding the Self Service Repair program, as this is a new issue. We will be interested, for example, in how it will be with the prices of original parts. Since Apple likes to pay for everything, there's no reason why it can't do the same for original parts. In addition, we will also have to wait to see how it will turn out in the end with non-original parts. There have been several theories regarding the fact that Apple came up with its own original parts for the reason that it wants to completely limit or cut non-original parts - it would definitely make sense. If you would like to learn more about the Self Service Repair program from Apple, just click on the article below. For now, though, it looks like this is positive news for all consumers.

záver

Above, I have listed four overall big steps that Apple has taken recently for the benefit of its customers and consumers. It's hard to tell if this is just a coincidence, or if the apple company is changing the patch like that. I would not be surprised if the apple company started to change like this after, for example, a change of CEO, or after some drastic change. But nothing like that happened at Apple simply and simply. That's why these steps are so strange, unusual, and we write about them. Everyone would definitely be happy if we could meet in a year for another similar article, in which we would look together at other positive steps. So we have no choice but to hope that Apple is really changing. What is your opinion on the current attitude of the Californian giant and do you think it will last? Let us know in the comments.
