At this year's 23rd WWDC developer conference, Mountain Lion was also discussed, under the cover of which Apple has already let us see February, but today he recapitulated everything and added some news...

But before moving on to the operating system itself, Tim Cook opened the keynote at the Moscone Center with his numbers.

App Store

Tim Cook focused on the App Store to, as usual, summarize the achievements of this store and publish some numbers. Apple has recorded over 400 million accounts in the App Store. There are 650 applications available for download, 225 of which are designed specifically for the iPad. With these numbers, Apple's executive director did not allow himself to take a dig at the competition, which is nowhere near reaching similar heights.

A respectable number also shone on the screen for the number of downloaded applications - there are already 30 billion of them. Developers have already collected more than 5 billion dollars (about 100 billion crowns) thanks to the App Store. So it can be seen that you can really make money in the app store for iOS devices.

In addition, Cook announced that the App Store will expand to 32 new countries, making it available in 155 countries in total. This was followed by an unusually long video that showed what the iPad with iOS is capable of. Whether he helped the disabled or served as an aid in schools.

Then came the new MacBooks, which we are reporting on <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>.

OS X Mountain Lion

It was only after Phil Schiller that Craig Federighi swung onto the stage, whose task it was to inform about the new Mountain Lion operating system. He started by saying that the current Lion is the best-selling system - 40% of users already have it installed. There are a total of 66 million Mac users worldwide, which is three times the number five years ago.

The new Mountain Lion brings hundreds of new features, with Federighi presenting eight of them to the audience.

He was the first to take aim at iCloud and its integration across the entire system. "We've built iCal into Mountain Lion, which means when you sign in with your account, you have up-to-date content on all your devices," explained Federighi and introduced three new applications - Messages, Reminders and Notes. We already know all of them from iOS, now with the help of iCloud we will be able to use them simultaneously on Mac as well. Documents can also be synchronized via iCloud, thanks to Apple's service called Documents in the Cloud. When you open Pages, you'll see all the documents in iCloud that you have on all your other devices at the same time. In addition to the three applications from the iWork package, iCloud also supports Preview and TextEdit. In addition, developers will receive the necessary APIs in the SDK to integrate iCloud into their applications as well.

Another introduced function was the Notification Center, which we have already mentioned they knew. However, the following function was a novelty – a voice recorder. Text dictation has been built into the system, just like in iOS, which will work everywhere. Even in Microsoft Word, as Federighi noted with a smile. However, we will not see Siri as such on the Mac for the time being.

[do action=”infobox-2″]We have already reported in detail about the news in OS X Mountain Lion <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>. You will then find other shards <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>.[/to]

After Federighi reminded those present of the ease of sharing from across the system, as the next a known novelty, moved to Safari. This will give Mountain Lion a unified address and search field, modeled after Google Chrome. iCloud Tabs syncs open tabs across all devices. Also new is Tabview, which you activate with a gesture by dragging your fingers apart - this will display a preview of open panels.

A completely new, and not yet introduced, feature of Mountain Lion is Power Nap. Power Nap takes care of your computer while it sleeps, better said it automatically updates data or even backups. It does all this quietly and without much energy consumption. However, Power Nap will only be available on the second-generation MacBook Air and the new MacBook Pro with Retina display.

Federighi then recalled AirPlay mirroring, for which he received applause, and rushed to Game Center. Among other things, the latter will support cross-platform competition in Mountain Lion, which Federighi and his colleague subsequently demonstrated when they raced together in the new CSR Racing game. One played on an iPad, the other on a Mac.

However, many more new features will appear in Mountain Lion, such as Mail VIP as in iOS 6, search in Launchpad or offline reading list. Especially for the Chinese market, Apple implemented several innovations in the new operating system, including the addition of the Baidu search engine to Safari.

OS X Mountain Lion will go on sale in July, available in the Mac App Store for $19,99. You can upgrade from Lion or Snow Leopard, and those who buy a new Mac will get Mountain Lion for free. Developers also got access to an almost final version of the new system today.
