Yesterday's iOS 8.0.1 update didn't go down too well with Apple, and after two hours the company had to withdraw it, as it completely eliminated cellular connectivity and Touch ID on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It immediately issued a statement saying it apologized to users and was working hard to fix it. Users received it a day later, and today Apple released the iOS 8.0.2 update, which, in addition to the already known fixes, also includes a fix for the broken mobile connection and fingerprint reader.
According to Apple, 40 devices were affected by the unfortunate update, which left them without a signal or the ability to unlock the iPhone with a fingerprint. Along with the update, the company released the following statement:
iOS 8.0.2 is now available for users. Fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1 and includes improvements and bug fixes originally included in iOS 8.0.1. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners who paid for a bug in iOS 8.0.1.
The new update should be safe for all owners of supported iPhones and iPads. You can download the update Over-the-Air in Settings > General > Software Updates or via iTunes to connect your phone. The list of fixes and improvements in iOS 8.0.2 is as follows:
- Fixed a bug in iOS 8.0.1 that caused signal loss and Touch ID not working on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
- Fixed a bug in HealthKit that caused apps supporting this platform to be removed from the App Store. Now those apps can come back.
- Fixed a bug where third-party keyboards were not active when entering a password.
- Improves the reliability of the Reachability function, so double-tapping the Home button on the iPhone 6/6 Plus should be more responsive.
- Some applications could not access the photo library, the update fixes this bug.
- Receiving SMS/MMS no longer causes occasional excessive mobile data usage.
- Better feature support Request a purchase for In-App purchases in Family Sharing.
- Fixed a bug where ringtones were not restored when restoring data from an iCloud backup.
- You can now upload photos and videos in Safari.
Everything OK on iPad 2 / 3G, update package about 17 MB during OTA download. Apple responded very quickly.
so they responded, the phone cost more than 20 liters, some even 35, so it's clear that they have to respond, fear wouldn't allow them and it would probably be very unpleasant for them if it returned all 10 customers and I still don't feel that 5ska
35 thousand? Show me that. It's just misleading information from you…
what is misleading, you are comparing the standard price of Apple, but I also think that those who bought it from resellers are at least 5 more expensive, is it not an iPhone anymore?
you can look at the website trebars Mironet.cz and there you have the prices, and now be smart, do you think that the price of 35 is misleading???
Nice, it didn't take that long and it works as it should. But where is the bash patch for Mac?
sudo port upgrade outdated ;-)
For Apple, bash is probably something powerful that the average MacBook user has no reason to touch...
[onekola@ilium] [~] [master *]
$ which bash
/ bin / bash
Brew will install bash to an alternate tree somewhere in /usr/local/Cellar/. Things like shebang bin bash will use the default error. In principle, I can symlink, but it seems to me that
1) I'm drawing something that Hergot should have given Apple sometime yesterday
2) I make counseling a mess in the system
Part of this problem is that apple is far behind the upstream (honor: coughs on the users, because this cannot be shown at the keynote), so every such change is a relatively big intervention.
I can only recommend MacPorts instead of Brew...
Or make that symlink - it doesn't seem like a mess in the system to me, but there is no solution. Or add to PATH the path to bash from Brew.
$ which bash
/opt/local/bin/bash
$ bash –version

And something "worth mentioning":
$ ls -hla /opt/local/bin/bash
-rwxr-xr-x+ 1 root admin 877K Sep 24 19:38 /opt/local/bin/bash
$ ls -hla /bin/bash

So ofiko bash from Apple is slightly historical ;)
Setting PATH does not solve anything. The problem is scripts with the shebang.
The switch to Ports is just another sting. Nothing against them, but brew is much less invasive and quickly switching from one to the other is a recipe for disaster.
And the symlink is really a mess.. Moreover, given the time Apple created, I have no idea what will break, because it feels like some prehistoric version of bash.
And I already wrote about Apple failing to download code from upstream.
> Setting PATH doesn't solve anything. The problem is scripts with the shebang.
Good point. Thanks. I have already completely removed the old bash from /bin/bash.
> And the symlink is really a mess..
If you think, I won't take it from you. Simulating binaries is a waste of practice. Maybe not on OS X, but it's fine on Linux distros. And I think that taking some hierarchy and cleanliness in OS X is unnecessary - you wrote the reason(s) yourself.
As long as there is a "User Guides And Information" and "User Information" folder in the root (or it is now a symlink), it is funny to take a symlink from /bin/bash to the correct bash like a mess...
The symlink is a problem for two reasons (except purism)
– no one tested the scripts written against the old bash with the new version of bash
– one forgets it. Then, after a while, he changes something with brew (moves them, switches to ports...) and the system goes to its knees. That kind of thing where a person says to himself "it doesn't concern me", and after a year and a half he wonders.
Otherwise, the lining is of course used, but I don't see how it's entirely sufficient to mix things from different packaging systems like this. Different versions of this are necessary when you choose "alternatives".
I'm not saying that ln -s isn't a pragmatic solution, but it's a nasty workaround for something that Apple wants, not a real solution to the problem.
I updated Bash via Homebrew (which I have installed from before because of Wine), but I only managed to solve one of the two reported vulnerabilities.
brew and ln -s ?
I don't know if I'm the only one with the problem, but when I pick up the call, it takes a second before I hear the person calling me. as if the iphone was slowed down there.
I noticed this already with eights that there is a short delay
Yes, already spotted on 8.0
yo, I also have a delay and with the number of incoming calls I make during the day, it seems like a lot of noise to me :(
I have this delay on 5S and IOS 7, so it will probably be a long-standing problem :/
So I still have 8.0.1 to install there, and when I want to download it, it tells me that the update cannot be verified, but 8.0.2 no longer offers it. I have it on iPhone 5 and iPad mini retina. Who can advise how to proceed? Thank you Janina
I have the same problem and I have a 5s
Go to settings – general – usage – manage storage. Here, delete the downloaded update 8.0.1. Then generally – software update… and you should see 8.0.2.
Thanks a lot, it works :-) Janina
I wonder how long it would take to fix something from a droid.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to update, so I still have 8.0.0
So it seems that in Australia it is still the same problem as after installing 8.0.1, luckily I am not going there :-) otherwise with the 4S it really takes a while before the call starts... Hopefully they will improve it...
It's great, on the 5S the phone said during setup that it needs to be connected to iTunes and I have no choice but to restore the iPhone…. That's what they give it, for example...
Well, hey. iTunes is reporting error 3014 and I'm at my wits end, no phone…
And you already had 8.01 or are you going straight from 8.0?
I went from 8.0. I had to restart iTunes without the firewall and I'm restoring the whole phone from scratch
+1 but at least after a long time I will have a restored phone :)
I have 5s and it was downloaded and installed without problems after wifi..
The provider is already OK, but Touch ID still doesn't work for me on the 4s :-)
I can't bend 5 times :)
And will Touch ID now also work on iPhone 5? That will be awesome!
I also know in 8.0.2 the iCloud Photo Library option appeared?
Yes in the Beta version, I'm already turning it on and going to test it :-)
I already turned it on and the videos appeared on my iPad :-) great. this is how I imagined it ... still in mac and on the web .. have you tried if it affects the space in iCloud Drive?
Of course, it has an effect when you go to the iCloud settings, Storage and Manage storage, then there is a new "Photo Library" and there is how much everything actually takes up on that iCloud ;-)
How to turn it on? Do I need to have a developer account?
I don't know what exactly you mean now, but iCloud Photo library is turned on in "Settings" "Pictures & Camera" and there you will immediately see "iCloud Photo Library"
jj I already found out .. :-( well today I'm paying elsewhere for the library deposit, so I'll pay here and I'll be able to work with it from all toys
Wasn't there already in iOS8??? Otherwise, when I wrote it down, it said that all the photos synced via iTunes will be deleted, can they be syncronized again or how do I get them there?
I think not. the philosophy is that you don't have to choose what you want to synchronize, because you will have everything there :-) But I don't have it verified. There are still a lot of questions here, but this is how it should work. Photos and videos! in the cloud and your toys as management and display tools + iCloud on the web.
here is a guide on how to get photos from a computer to the cloud... but I'll probably wait until it's fine-tuned
http://www.insanely-great.com/news.php?id=13533
I discovered the problem that when I receive an SMS and I pull the notification from the mountain to write back, the keyboard does not appear. I have no way to write it off. I have to go to the classic SMS application.
I tried it now and it works for me iPhone 5S / 8.0.2
You have to turn on the message preview in Settings -> notification -> messages -> show previews!
Can you advise how to download 8.0.2 ??? I have downloaded 8.0.1 can't install or delete can you advise??? Dick
and are you on Wifi?
Yes, it has already been done via iTunes. :-) dick
Still does not automatically dial VPN (problem since iOS 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 and 8.0.2)
Hopefully 8.0.3 will help .. and won't it be this afternoon? :-))
I also have a problem with VPN since version 8.0.0 - the green button to turn it on has disappeared, so I can't connect to the VPN at all :(
will it work on my ip 4S?? I have 8.0.0 and it was quite stuck
What do you mean by the term you can now upload photos and videos in Safari?
The delay in calls is really bothering me. A flashlight in a miracle for half a day with minimal use. For a while now, the phone looks like you could make eggs on the back glass...
Hopefully it will be 8.0.3 soon.
What model is this happening to you?? My girlfriend has an iP 5 with iOS 8.0.2 and the battery is exhausted in half a day with minimal use. And in such a way that the battery drops from 36% straight to 1% within 30 minutes
I think I'm starting to get really pissed off at Apple. I waited with 8.0.1, installed 8.0.2, and the result is that my phone sometimes freezes when I try to use the camera from the lock screen, or when a notification comes while playing a video, streaming a movie from iTunes does not last even 3 minutes. My patience is starting to overflow. Don't they have testers there?
So far I still have 8.0, but I'm pissed too. The iPad is as unstable as a pig, something doesn't work on it all the time and you can't help yourself at all. And it can't be blamed on third-party developers either - it goes crazy in native applications too. In addition, the iPhone has a problem connecting to the data network, as soon as I start reading something in it, it almost runs in my hand and the flashlight goes down like lightning, just a joy to the bone. And what about it? Do a restore and again spend half a day looking for what else needs to be set up, only to find out that it was useless anyway? Take it in for service? And how will it help me? If a person had at least something working for that money and had some support somewhere, he would have a way to report errors and someone would advise him. They cough up for it and push us such scumbags.
solution see my post above (Zdeněk B.)
Ok thanks, I'll give it a try. I don't often have iTunes handy, so I updated OTA. Hope this helps as there is a lot that doesn't work. Even home lighting can't be controlled.
I have 5s and everything is fine, no problem.
I dutifully report that the "better patch" is installed on the "4Sku 16GB" and so far I'm driving without any apparent difference after installing 8.0 and can't even bend :-) And that's what I was really afraid of considering the comments below...
Gentlemen, I had similar problems after installing iOS 8, but all I had to do was connect to iTunes and do the installation again. I don't know why, but everything works as it should. IP 5
After the usual 8.0.2 update, streaming services do not work on iPads, applications crash (iVysilani, F1, ...) and you cannot start a radio stream from Safari. A clean install from iTunes helped (before that, of course, a full backup and restore). Then there is no problem. If someone has a problem with an iPhone, I recommend the same. Now everything is going as it should.
How do I do this without losing what I have on my phone?
backup, restore and restore from backup. all via itunes
Is there a trick to press Alt, or are there tricks for everything in iTunes? I would hate to get stuck in the middle of the process. Definitely thanks a lot!
I don't know, I backed up, it says that some purchased things are not on the computer, if I want to transfer them, I say yes - and then when I try to restore, it says that I have purchased things, which I will lose with the restore and I will have them have to buy again. That's not exactly encouraging. Any idea what to do with it?
as follows:
see picture
I noticed that too. Samba too. I'm on it…
And I, the fool, used to laugh at people with Windows under their breath that every now and then they had to do a clean install, while I only restarted once a year..
I have a 4S 64GB OIS 6.1.3, everything works perfectly: I mail, surf the Internet, navigate, play games, watch streams, listen to music... the response is instant, completely stable.... the battery lasts almost two days... icloud doesn't need enough capacity... in my opinion, at this time apple was at the peak of tuning software and hardware... Jobs's absolute precision was just at its peak... after everything around me, I see 4S hiccups as much as possible... and it's still a beauty which is out of line with Asian tastes... you'll probably stone me for being conservative, but what's the point of IOS 8...
JJ, I used to have the same machine out of concern and mainly for reasons of diving up to x tens of meters with a cover per liter, I have the go pro hero instead (and that I can do it with 2)
Everything works, I use iCloud to the full, the call is picked up immediately, the camera can take a photo in half a second, I can tell that I am taking photos in succession only by the clicking sound...
In addition, it is the last machine where I can cover the entire display with my thumb, simply great...
I also think ios 6.xx and 4S is the last full Jobs' child...
Considering the development, he also had a great influence on 5/5S...only now you can see where it all goes, the company is not run by a visionary, but by an economist and a honeybee who had the opposite taste to jobs...and that look is absolutely perfect, genius and non-Asian unique...
And the appearance of the system is more practical than beautiful, see signal indicator, speed and a bunch of other things...
Maybe I'm the only one, but when I launch several applications, when I double-click HB and close all open applications, the top list with info (time, connection, etc.) is strangely hidden.
Installed version 8.0.2. on an iPad without 3G. There was a problem connecting to websites. Websites load when Airplane mode is activated. But sometimes there is a short-term freeze. I guess everything is not OK yet
I have an iPhone 4S and apart from the slowness of its responses, I have not experienced any problems with either version 8.0 or the current 8.0.2.
I have a 4S and I updated to 8.0.2 and now. The system definitely sped up to its original state with the 3th version. Now everything runs reliably and quickly. Only noted minor differences compared to newer models apparently. I don't have the possibility to have widget SMS in notifications and respond to messages from here, the photo cannot be linked to 8rd party applications without the need to go to that application, and recording videos and sounds to SMS can only be done in a newly established conversation with the given number. This is not possible for conversations that were already written before the transition to iOS 8, or rather, it is possible, but in a different way without the new fast control environment from version iOS XNUMX. Scrolling back and forth in Safari by dragging your finger across the screen works better today. The function of delivery of help dictated by voice is great. This works almost flawlessly, even for the Czech language. Terrible thing.
I'm in the process of reinstalling all the iOS devices in the family via iTunes on a Mac. Really fun. Although I did transfer purchases and back-up, a number of applications were not installed during the restore because they were simply not found. Of course, this also includes all the data in them. Completely reinstalling the device (including using DFU) helps in some ways, but not in others - 1Password still freezes when trying to save an edited note, and the iStudiez application is still unusable because it freezes and does not save input data (e.g. when entering vacations). Who knows what is still not working, but at least Informat has stopped freezing and new tasks are finally being written into it. When I recover from everything that I lost due to the "failed" restore, I reset everything possible, which in theory should be set by itself according to the previous state, I find out what still doesn't work and recap the lost time, I will have Apple for me something better. Scoundrels.
I don't have 64 GB of free space on my disk :-( In addition, for peace of mind, I preferred to back up the photos on an external disk - without a "stopover" on the disk, I (of course) couldn't do it - it's also interesting that iPhoto needs 45 GB of space on backing up 30 GB of photos... It worked for the fourth time... I bought 4 GB on iCloud for 200 Euros per month, but the backup takes all night and of course, if I had to leave the house on Sunday with my phone and leave wifi, I can start again again... (which I did after 5% and really had to start over). And the problem at the source is definitely not home wifi... Error reporting is like Windows "something went wrong somewhere"... The person who invented "Some of your purchases will be impossible to restore. Do you want to continue?" probably never used a computer for anything. I switched to a Mac from Linux, because I didn't like wasting time and advice on hacking something so that this or that would work and I could concentrate on work. But it's also in pale blue, but it costs money. I really don't like it. I don't know if I'm just clueless or pissed off. I'm starting to wonder what awaits me with Yosemite.
how do you spell cook? cook@apple.com?
I have my 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and I'm completely satisfied, everything runs smoothly without any hiccups, it's even faster in every way compared to the iPad 2 which has iOS 7.. so until there's a need, no update will take place, it's just trick and artificial slowing down of older devices, while they are powerful up to...
After updating to ios 8.0.2, the number 5 lights up in the settings. I've already tried everything, and the advice is there. Does anyone know??? iPhone XNUMXs
I'm in the same situation and I don't know what to do with it. I've already tried everything including a hard reboot and reinstalling via iTunes and nothing. I asked Apple about the operation and it doesn't work. Just waiting for the next update ;(
After updating to IOS 8.0.2 they can't send iMessage on IOS 7…. iMessages only work when I send to a device with IOS 8... Does anyone else have this problem?
Great.. After a clean install, the system no longer crashes, but it has become incredibly slow, it takes a few seconds to launch applications now.. Fuck..
Why does it always work for me and you never had a problem with the FW update on five devices?
So you are a lucky person. I can't even remember when something from Apple worked for me without any problems.
How do I update my iphone 4s 8gb? I have already deleted everything that can be deleted, and there is still not enough space for the required update...thanks
They could already solve the problem that the wifi connection does not work :/ :p
Can someone advise me? It makes sense to upgrade the iPod mini retina.
I don't recommend any update now.
After a clean install of iOS 8.0.2, my 5S started draining really fast (and apps really stopped crashing, even though they slowed down significantly). On iOS 7, the phone lasted a day and a half on a single charge, now about 7 hours. I'm getting desperate - the few new features aren't worth it to me and Apple won't allow it to go back to iOS 7 anymore.
I still can't upload videos on my ipad air and not even videos on facebook….
I have ip4S and it works great, you have to turn off transparency, it slows things down a lot... Settings->General->Accessibility->Higher contrast... or you can also limit movement, no animation will be created when going to apps...
Thank you:-)
Is it just me or you too? When I delete the sms, the time and day when it was sent remain there, even though I deleted the sms.
After the 8.0.2 update, I was happy that youtube and ivsylani are already running... but after running the application again, everything is the same and it's dead again... ugh, I can't get over this.
I had a problem downloading the update 5, I have a red iTunes icon on the screen, a picture of the charger terminals and an arrow. However, the phone does not respond to connecting or disconnecting the charger, it can be turned off and on, but the same thing always appears on the screen. When restarted by holding down the On/Off and Home buttons, it responds only by flicking and turning on. The only thing I could think of was to try to connect it to the PC and hard restart, but I wouldn't like to lose data. Could someone give me some advice?
The same thing happened to me with iPad mini retina. My understanding of the picture is that I need to connect the iPad to the computer with iTunes with a cable. That helped, but the data was crap. I restored them from iCloud, but it took me a while to figure out how to do it (use "delete data" in the menu, then a wizard will appear, offering to restore data from iCloud after connecting to wi-fi).
I will also add my experience. I hastily updated my iPad2, even though I know it's best to wait two months... Straight away version 8.0.2 From that moment on, my 3G network disconnects after a while and starts up again only after a restart. Well, wifi keeps losing and gaining signal again. Some applications that require a constant Wi-Fi or 3G signal are so unusable, in addition, I had to turn the iPad off and on more times in the last 5 days than in the entire time I've had it :( And now I'll think about whether to hope for an early payment or try that iTunes thing that I don't use at all...
Ipad 8.0.2 with me: bad WiFi signal, system is slow, Skype (message announcements) is mute, the chat window in Skype does not always display the last message after closing and reopening the window, etc. etc. Same on Air. The price/performance ratio in practice doesn't make sense to me anymore
