Apple has released the first minor update to the iOS 8 operating system, which has already been installed by almost 50 percent of all users with supported phones. Version iOS 8.0.1 brings some minor bug fixes that plagued the eighth version of Apple's mobile system, but it also came with major problems for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users. They encountered non-functional Touch ID and signal loss. Apple reacted quickly and pulled the update for now.
iOS 8.0.1 is now not available to download either from the developer center or over-the-air directly to the iOS device. For Re/code Apple he said, that "he is actively saving this problem". However, many users have already managed to download the new hundredth version of iOS 8 and are facing problems. So Apple should react quickly.
The list of fixes in iOS 8.0.1 was as follows:
- Fixed a bug in HealthKit that caused apps supporting this platform to be removed from the App Store. Now those apps can come back.
- Fixed a bug where third-party keyboards were not active when entering a password.
- Improves the reliability of Reachability, so double-tapping the Home button on the iPhone 6/6 Plus should be more responsive and pull the screen down.
- Some applications could not access the photo library, the update fixes this bug.
- Receiving SMS/MMS no longer causes occasional excessive mobile data usage
- Better feature support Request a purchase for In-App Purchases in Family Sharing.
- Fixed a bug where ringtones were not restored when restoring data from an iCloud backup.
- You can now upload photos and videos in Safari
The update meant two major inconveniences for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users. According to users, the mobile network and Touch ID will stop working after it. Older phones seem to have avoided this inconvenience, but Apple preferred to pull the update completely.
Don't know if it also fixes the iPhone 6+ unwanted bending bug?
Otherwise, I have a question for owners of iP5s (perhaps others) with iOS8 and Vodafone - does anyone have a problem with people not calling (the number says unavailable - even if it has a signal, I can call and send sms) and it's late (perhaps by a few hours) text messages? It's been happening to me for about the 4th day and I don't know if it's a fault with the phone or Vodafone.
I have an iP5 and a Vodafone and I haven't experienced a similar problem.
i also have an iP5 + VF and no problems, i had about 5 calls today so it definitely works.
iPhone bending will be solved up to 8.1 ;)
Although I have O2, it also does this to me sometimes. The SMS doesn't come until an hour later, I'm starting to suspect a problem with the iPhone, but it's hard to say. You can try to have the sim replaced, sometimes it can also cause a problem.
I have IP5s and the o2 operator and I don't have the problem yet either, but I know it happens sometimes, and maybe I would attribute it to the ongoing reconstruction of the network due to LTE. :)
An acquaintance had to solve it with the operator, and they changed his sim for a new one.
Thanks to everyone, I already solved it with the operators, but since they didn't contact me, I immediately received an SMS saying that the case was closed :D
I will go to the store tomorrow.
mess this…
Good evening.
I solved this exact problem with a colleague.
iPhone 5S + iOS8 + Vodafone. Turning off LTE helped.
it's true that I turned it off now and two people have already contacted me! So it's a Vodafone problem.
Thanks!
I left Vodafone because of that. I have a phone to communicate with clients, so I need 40 calls a day. If within an hour I get 6 sms that this and that number could not be called, that's crazy. I called Vodafone, they were on the phone, there was an error on the phone. No, I changed the phone because of the home button, and by coincidence it sent 7, and so did the system. Vodafone solved it by stopping sending me SMS about missed calls. So I went to O2. It also happens sometimes, but at least I get the texts that warn me about it.
interesting, thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I like Vodafone, in addition, I have just signed up to the RED tariff for 2 years, so hopefully it will be resolved somehow
This issue is not specific to iOS 8 or the iPhone itself. Our company runs completely on VF and it happens to everyone. If it is somehow related to the 3G/LTE connection, it is possible, but the same problem is also reported by Android users who have data turned off most of the time (how else :)
I forgot to add that it has been going on for at least a year
Thanks for the info. Almost our whole family switched to Vodafone and it didn't happen to anyone else but me.
It doesn't work for me :D, it keeps telling me that the update can't be verified and I'm connected to wifi. And I tried it at least 10 times. I even turned off my phone and still the same thing. I have a 5s.
downloaded the update. I already installed it and everything is fine
iPad 2 / 3G is fine after the Update.
I have a colleague in the Czech Republic who has an iPhone 5S with iOS7 and he has exactly the same problem as Robin Martinez (that I can't call him people (the number says unavailable - even if I have a signal, I can call and send sms) and he's late (just about a few hours) sms)
hard reset or dfu
I updated the iP5 to 8.0.1 in the early evening. Although they wrote that the size of the update was less than 60 MB, it took around 600 (according to Usage). After starting the installation, the update bit and the iP is dead. I booted it up via home+power, the magic animation with the cable and the red iTunes icon appeared. WTF!?
Well, nothing, I connected it to the Mac, iTunes started, several gigabytes of installation were downloaded. Meanwhile, the connected iP tried to reboot on its own several times, always jumping back into the cable and iTunes animation. When I started the installation, iTunes reported that an update needed to be downloaded and started pulling another 1,67 gigabytes. When they downloaded them, all over again, as if they hadn't seen the update. Now it's downloading the 1,67 GB for about the fourth time, but it still won't start.
Just such a nice evening with Apple and a dead iPhone...
Update: The problem was apparently that iTunes tried to constantly download build 8.0.1 and when they downloaded it, they were forbidden by Apple to install it on the given device (because in the meantime Apple downloaded 8.0.1 ofiko... but it was on the servers still rolling somewhere...)
So I clicked on Restore with Alt and manually selected the downloaded 8.0 and it seems to have finally started to restore…
I see we are dealing with the same thing. It's hell. First of all, I had to wait a day and a half for the phone to discharge, because after starting the installation of the EIGHT (about 36%) it froze with an apple on the display and the phone could not even be turned off.
Well horror!!!
I have a classic iP5 and the eighth version of iOS somehow fucked up my phone. Aside from the fact that Bejaweled doesn't work (which pisses me off), I have the feeling that the WiFi is somehow slow and my 3G is probably completely frozen. I'm waiting for 8.1 and dreading Yosemite. Hello
I have an iP5 and an iP AIR (T-Mobile), and on both of them, after updating to iOS8, the network, both cellular and WiFi, started going crazy. The signal is full and the data is not working, the only thing that helps is to switch the phone to airplane mode and back, and if that doesn't help either, then reset. If it continues like this, then we apple lovers are in for a tough time.
I can confirm. Same thing happens to me with iP5 and iPad mini. Only a restart will help... But I believe that the apple guys will fix it :)
Hello
Does anyone know how the Runtastic application has released an update that the data should be added to iHealt and I can't do it?
