The camera of the new iPhone 5 may not be as perfect as it seems. Many users report that they see a purple glow in their photos in overlit areas. However, Apple refuses to take this as a bug and advises users: "Aim your camera differently."

One of the readers of the server received such an answer Gizmodo, who was troubled by the problem, so he wrote to Apple. The full response looks like this:

Dear Matt,

our engineering team just forwarded this information to me to recommend to you when shooting point the camera away from a prominent light source. The purple glow that appears in the images is considered for normal iPhone 5 camera behavior. If you want to contact me (…), my email is ****@apple.com.

Regards,
Debby
AppleCare Support

At the same time, Matt van Gastel initially learned something completely different from Apple. After a long phone call with support, he was told that the purple glow was a problem that shouldn't occur on the latest Apple phone:

I was originally told that that's weird and shouldn't happen. My call then went to a higher up who also said this shouldn't be happening. I sent him some pictures of the mentioned problem and he then forwarded them to the engineers.

So the answer ended up being quite different, as Apple writes to Matt in the email mentioned above. However, one thing is now certain – the iPhone 5 has problems with purple glow, and there is probably no way to solve this problem. Some speculate that the sapphire glass covering the lens is to blame. However, Apple has simple advice: This is normal, you're just holding the camera wrong.

[do action=”update”/]Our readers report that none of them have experienced a similar problem. So it means that the "purple light case" will definitely not affect all new iPhone 5s, but probably only some pieces. Still, Apple's reasoning is strange.
