Apple is according news magazine Variety close to starting a new division to create its own video content. The Californian company is to start hiring employees for the new development and production division in the coming months, which should start operating next year. Apple would thus like to compete with services such as Netlix or Amazon Prime with exclusive content and thus help the success of its Apple TV.

It is not yet clear whether Apple plans to make a TV show or, for example, movies and series. It is said that authorized Apple employees are already negotiating with the highest representatives of Hollywood. They report directly to Eddy Cu, who is in charge of Apple's internet services.

Magazine Variety claims that Apple's efforts are still in the early stages, but Apple's increased interest in the area of TV production is said to be visible in recent months. The company even reportedly offered a job to a trio of celebrity presenters Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. But the trio eventually snapped up Amazon after leaving the British BBC.

Apple certainly has enough funds for such efforts. However, the delay of the planned own cable TV, which Cupertino will not be able to launch until early 2016, according to rumors circulating on the Internet, may stand in the way of his ambitious plans. But the new Apple TV could come as early as this month and the hardware for the new service would thus be secured ahead of time.

It's still too early to guess what Apple's plans are for its own shows. It is possible that it will only offer them within iTunes. However, the launch of Apple Music showed that Apple has no problem borrowing the format of competing services. In Cupertino, they can prepare a direct competition for Netflix and offer a similar streaming service through Apple TV, the competitiveness of which Cook's team will want to increase with exclusive programs. For Netflix, for example, such tactics have certainly paid off, and shows like House of Cards are something that attract a huge amount of attention to the service.
