ECG for Apple Watch is heading to South Korea

The Californian giant introduced the Apple Watch Series 4 to us back in 2018. Undoubtedly, the biggest innovation of this generation was the ECG sensor, with the help of which every user can take their electrocardiogram and find out if they are suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. However, since it is a medical aid that requires certification and approval before being introduced in a given country, so far apple pickers in some countries still cannot try this function. As it seems, Apple is constantly working to expand this service, as evidenced by today's report.

California giant today he announced, that the EKG function and irregular heart rhythm alert will finally make their way to South Korea. Users there should be in for a treat pretty soon, as these old-fashioned "news" will come alongside the iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 updates. In the current situation, however, it is not clear when we will actually see the release of the mentioned updates. The last released beta version could tell us. It was released to developers and public testers already last week Friday, and the update also boasted the designation Release Candidate (RC). These versions are practically no different after the release to the public. After that, it should be the same for Russia, where, according to Meduza magazine, the EKG should arrive together with the mentioned updates.

Apple to pay astronomical compensation for lost patent case

The Californian giant has been waging a patent war with software company VirnetX for 10 years. The latest news about this dispute comes from late last week, when a court hearing took place in the state of Texas. The jury decided that Apple must pay compensation in the amount of 502,8 million dollars, which is about 11,73 billion crowns in conversion. And what is the whole patent dispute about? Currently, everything revolves around VPN patents in the iOS operating system, where you can connect to a VPN service.

Several different amounts were awarded during the dispute itself. VirnetX initially demanded $700 million, while Apple agreed to $113 million. The Californian giant was willing to pay a maximum of 19 cents per unit. However, the jury settled on 84 cents per unit. Apple itself is reportedly disappointed by the ruling and plans to appeal. How the whole dispute will continue is unclear for the time being.

Lockdown in the UK will close all Apple Stories

Currently, the entire world is afflicted by the global pandemic of the disease COVID-19. In addition, the so-called second wave of this epidemic has currently arrived in a number of countries, which is why stricter restrictions are being issued all over the world. Great Britain is no exception. The Prime Minister there, Boris Johnson, announced that the so-called lockdown will take place from Thursday, November 5. Because of this, all shops, except those with basic necessities, will be closed for at least 4 weeks.

It is therefore clear that all apple stores will also be closed. However, the timing itself is worse. In October, the Californian giant showed us a new generation of Apple phones, which enters the market in two waves. The new iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max should enter the market on Friday, November 13, which is eight days after the start of the aforementioned lockdown. Because of this, Apple will have to close all of its 32 branches located in England.
