There is usually a 45-day return period for the Apple Watch. But Apple will now offer an extension of this period to a full XNUMX days, for those customers who will request a refund in connection with the upcoming functions related to the monitoring of heart functions. The introduction of a longer return period was revealed by an internal document distributed to Apple stores and authorized dealers.

Server & Hosting MacRumors, who obtained access to the aforementioned document, states that Apple Store employees always forward the relevant request to Apple Support. Customers will then have to contact the company by phone, email or online chat.

The new document does not offer any further details, so it is not even clear why the extended period for returning goods was actually introduced. The ECG application, as well as the irregular heartbeat notification, are among the regulated functions, and therefore the competent authority does not impose a mandatory extension of the mentioned period on them.

Apple has not yet commented on the whole situation, but most likely it is simply that longer time is needed to properly test these functions. In connection with the ECG application, Apple points out that it is not a diagnostic tool, nor a method that should fully replace existing medical ones.

The most significant new feature is the option to record an ECG – this year's Apple Watch Series 4 came with it. All four generations of apple smart watches will then have the option of alerting you to irregular heartbeats. The aforementioned document indicates that both the ECG recording application and notifications will be part of the watchOS 5.1.2 operating system.
