Apple announced that it sold more than nine million Apple phones in the first weekend when the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are available. It significantly exceeded analysts' expectations...

Various calculations assumed that Apple would sell around 5 to 7,75 million units during the first weekend. However, all estimates were massively exceeded, just like last year's success at the start of sales of the iPhone 5. sold "only" five million.

“This is our best iPhone sales launch ever. Nine million new iPhones sold are a record in the first weekend,” CEO Tim Cook said in a press release. “Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible and although we have sold out of initial stock of the iPhone 5S, stores are receiving regular deliveries. We appreciate everyone's patience and are working hard to get the new iPhone to everyone."

Stock prices immediately responded to the high numbers, rising by 3,76%.

According to available sources, the iPhone 5S was the most popular model during the first weekend, however, it can be expected that the iPhone 5C will catch up in the following months, which should attract the wider public.

As expected, Apple did not provide official data on the sales of individual iPhones. However, analytics firm Localytics claims that the iPhone 5S beat the iPhone 5C in sales by a ratio of 3:1. In that case, approximately 5 million iPhone 6,75S units would be sold.

At the moment, the iPhone 5S is sold out practically all over the world (so far it is sold in 10 countries), there is no problem with the iPhone 5C.

Apple also said in a press release that iTunes Radio has been a huge success since day one, with over 11 million unique listeners already. iOS 7 doesn't have to be shy either, according to Apple, it's currently running on more than 200 million devices, making it the fastest-growing software update in history.
