Apple updated its 13″ MacBook Pro line-up in June, and it seems that the base configurations of this model are suffering from annoying issues that cause the computer to shut down. The problem was first pointed out by the owners of the new MacBook Pro back in August, and now Apple has issued an official statement advising users what to do.

According to Apple, the problem is apparently not yet serious enough to trigger a global recall. Instead, the company as part of its statement she issued some kind of instruction that should solve the problem with sudden shutdown. If that doesn't help either, owners should contact official support.

If your 13″ MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and in the basic configuration randomly turns off, try the following procedure:

  1. Drain your 13″ MacBook Pro battery below 90%
  2. Connect the MacBook to power
  3. Close all open applications
  4. Close the lid of the MacBook and leave it in sleep mode for at least 8 hours. This should reset the internal sensors monitoring the battery status
  5. After at least eight hours have passed since the previous step, try updating your MacBook to the latest version of the macOS operating system

If even after this procedure the situation does not change and the computer continues to turn off by itself, contact official Apple support. When communicating with the technician, describe to him that you have already completed the above procedure. He should be familiar with it and should immediately move you on to a possible solution.

If this relatively newly discovered problem turns out to be more serious than it currently appears, Apple will address it differently. Currently, however, there is still a relatively small sample of damaged pieces, on the basis of which no more general conclusions can be made.
