Along with other news, the new watchOS 5, the latest system for the Apple Watch, which brings major news, was presented today at WWDC. Among the main ones are the improved Exercise application, Walkie-Talkie function, interactive notifications and support for the Podcasts application.

The Exercise application has received a significant improvement, in all aspects. With the arrival of watchOS 5, the Apple Watch will learn to automatically detect the beginning and end of exercise, so if the user activates it a little later, the watch will count all the minutes when the movement was performed. Along with this, there are new exercises for example for yoga, mountain climbing or outdoor running, and you will be pleased with the new indicator, which includes, for example, the number of steps per minute. Activity sharing has also become more interesting, where it is now possible to compete with your friends in specific activities and thus win special awards.

Undoubtedly, one of the most interesting functions of watchOS 5 is the Walkie-Talkie function. Basically, these are voice messages tailored specifically for the Apple Watch that can be quickly sent, received and played back. The novelty uses either its own mobile data on the Apple Watch Series 3, or data from an iPhone or Wi-Fi connection.

Users will certainly be pleased with the interactive notifications, which not only support quick responses, but can now display, for example, the content of the page and other data for which it was always necessary to reach for the iPhone until now. Watch faces haven't been forgotten either, specifically the Siri watch face, which now supports shortcuts for the virtual assistant, maps, calendars, and third-party apps.

For enthusiastic listeners, the Podcasts application will be available on the watch, through which you can listen to podcasts directly from the Apple Watch and all playbacks will be synchronized across other devices.

For now, the fifth generation of watchOS is only available to registered developers, and to install it, you need to have iOS 12 installed on the iPhone with which the Apple Watch is paired. The system will be available to the public in the fall.
