Apple is responding to recent events involving unsafe chargers for Apple devices from third-party manufacturers that allegedly caused the death of a Chinese user. The Californian company will now offer customers the option to exchange their non-original charger for one with the bitten apple logo.

It was released by Apple two weeks ago warning against non-original chargers, as information began to leak out that such pieces were threatening the lives of people across China. Now he introduced the program "USB Power Adapter Takeback Program", thanks to which customers can come to Apple Stores for original chargers. The whole event starts on August 16.

Recent reports have suggested that some counterfeit and non-genuine chargers may not have been properly designed, which could have resulted in security risks. While not all third-party chargers have issues, we are still introducing the USB Power Adapter Takeback Program to allow customers to obtain properly designed chargers.

Customer safety is a top priority at Apple. That's why all our products – including USB chargers for iPhone, iPad and iPod – undergo safety and reliability testing and are designed to meet safety standards around the world.

From August 16, everyone can visit any Apple Store or authorized Apple service to replace the charger. Apple has reduced the price of the USB charger to $19 from the original $10, but you can only get one for each device at the discounted price. By the way, you must have this with you to verify the serial number. Returned chargers from third-party manufacturers will be recycled as part of the program.

The event will last until October 18. We contacted the Czech Apple representative office to see if this program will also be available in the Czech Republic, however, there is no more specific information for now. However, since Apple states that the exchange will only be possible in Apple Stores, which are not here, or at authorized Apple services, we may not be able to do this.
