It has been rumored for several weeks that the Apple company is preparing to introduce new iMacs. However, at first, no one knew whether Apple would introduce a completely redesigned iMac, or whether it would keep this ace up its sleeve until the time when it introduces iMacs with ARM processors. It turned out that the correct theory is the second one mentioned. Therefore, the new 27″ iMac (2020) does not undergo a complete redesign, but even so, this machine comes with interesting innovations, which we will look at in this article.

The biggest update ever took place in the field of processors. In the 27″ iMac (2020) configurator, only 10th generation Intel processors are new. In the basic configuration, a 6-core Intel Core i5 of the tenth generation is available, but you can configure up to a 10-core Intel Core i9 processor, of course for a significant surcharge. As for the basic 6-core Core i5 processor, users can look forward to a base clock of 3.1 GHz, Turbo Boost then reaches up to 4.5 GHz. If we look at the graphics cards, the basic model has a Radeon Pro 5300 card with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory, while the top versions have a Radeon Pro 5500 XT with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. However, users can also choose the Radeon Pro 5700 with 8 GB of memory or the 5700 XT with 16 GB of memory for demanding graphics work.

The RAM memory of the new iMac has also been significantly improved - it is now possible to install up to 27 GB of RAM in the 2020″ iMac (128). As for classic user storage, we have finally seen the removal of obsolete HDDs and Fusion Drives, which have fully replaced SSDs. In the basic configuration, you get an SSD with a capacity of 512 GB, but you can gradually configure up to an 8 TB SSD. In the field of security, there is finally a special T2 chip that takes care of data encryption on the disk. In terms of hardware, it's more or less all about improvements - we'll see if Apple resorted to any other internal changes after the complete disassembly, which will appear on the Internet in a few days.

However, we must not forget the Retina display from the improvements. Thanks to the appropriate sensors, the 27″ iMac (2020) finally supports True Tone, i.e. adjusting the displayed white color in real time based on ambient light. In addition, there is an option in the configurator to purchase a device with nanotextured display treatment, which you may know from Apple Pro Display XDR. In addition, we also saw a minor revolution in the case of the webcam. The constant complaints of Apple users have finally been heard, and Apple has decided to install a new FaceTime front camera in the new 27″ iMac (2020), which has improved the resolution from 720p to 1080p. Speakers and, of course, microphones have undergone further improvements. Apple has decided to divide the 27″ iMac (2020) into three selected configurations – the basic will cost you CZK 54, the middle one will cost you CZK 990 and the top one will cost you CZK 60. If you were to reach for the most expensive components, you will end up with a price tag of almost 990 crowns.
