Apple presented the new 14 and 16" MacBook Pros in the form of a press release. In terms of design, nothing has changed, because everything mainly revolves around the new chips. According to assumptions, these are the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which push the usability of the device further.

The M2 Pro chip in the new MacBook Pro features up to a 12-core CPU and up to a 19-core GPU. You can also add up to 32GB of unified memory. The M2 Max chip goes even further, of course, as it can have up to 38 core GPUs, or an incredible 96 GB of unified memory. Storage in the highest configuration then reaches up to 8 TB. To make matters worse, Apple mentions that these new machines will also achieve the longest endurance, up to 22 hours.

In addition to the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, the new MacBook Pro models also include several other improvements. The HDMI port has been updated to the HDMI 2.1 standard, which brings support for 8K displays up to 60Hz and 4K displays up to 240Hz. Other improvements include Wi-Fi 6E support. But don't expect anything extra.

Chip Skills M2 Pro and M2 Max

As for the performance shift of the M2 Pro chip, it is said to have 30% more graphics performance, 40% faster Neural Engine, 80% faster rendering of motion animations than the Intel-based MacBook Pro, and up to 20% more than the previous generation. Compilation in Xcode is faster by 20%, processing content in Adobe Photoshop by up to 40%.

The 12-core chip with up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores provides up to 20% more performance than the M1 Max. Effects rendering in Cinema 4D is up to 30 percent faster than the previous generation M1 Max chip, color correction in DaVinci Resolve is up to 30 percent faster than the previous generation, according to Apple.
