Dan Pražák Speculation has become reality. Apple launched the new AirPods Pro today via a press release. The headphones are presented with the expected suppression of ambient noise, water resistance, better sound reproduction, a new design and with plugs in three different sizes. The new functions together with the nickname "Pro" have increased the price of the headphones to more than seven thousand crowns.

The main novelty of AirPods Pro is undoubtedly the active suppression of ambient noise, which constantly adapts to the geometry of the ear and the placement of the tips, up to 200 times per second. Among other things, the function is provided by a pair of microphones, the first of which picks up sounds from the surroundings and blocks them before they even reach the owner's ears. The second microphone then detects and cancels sounds coming away from the ear. Together with the silicone plugs, the maximum isolation effect is ensured during listening.
Along with that, Apple also equipped its new AirPods Pro with a transmittance mode, which essentially deactivates the function of canceling out ambient noise. This comes in handy especially in places where there is a higher frequency of traffic and therefore hearing is also needed for orientation in the surroundings. It will be possible to activate the mode directly on the headphones as well as on the paired iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
It is also essential that AirPods Pro have IPX4 certification. This means in practice that they are resistant to sweat and water. But Apple points out that the aforementioned coverage does not apply to water sports and that only the headphones themselves are resistant, the charging case is not.
Hand in hand with the new functions comes a fundamental change in the design of the headphones. Although the design of AirPods Pro is based on the classic AirPods, they have a shorter and stronger foot and, in particular, silicone plug ends. Even thanks to this, the headphones should fit everyone, and the user will have a choice of three sizes of end caps according to their preferences, which Apple bundles with the headphones.
The way the headphones are controlled has also changed. There is a new pressure sensor on the foot, through which you can pause music, answer a call, skip tracks and switch from active noise suppression to permeability mode.
In other respects, the AirPods Pro are essentially the same as the second-generation AirPods introduced this spring. So inside we find the same H1 chip that ensures fast pairing and enables the "Hey Siri" function. The durability is basically the same, with AirPods Pro lasting up to 4,5 hours of listening per charge (up to 5 hours when active noise suppression and permeability are turned off). During the call, it offers up to 3,5 hours of endurance. But the positive news is that the headphones only need 5 minutes of charging to last about an hour playing music. Together with a case that supports wireless charging, the headphones offer more than 24 hours of listening time.
AirPods Pro go on sale this week on Wednesday, October 30. The new functions have increased the price of the headphones to 7 CZK, i.e. fifteen hundred crowns more than the price of classic AirPods with a wireless charging case. So 80% of Android phones don't have that price. :-)
