Today, Apple updated its entire line of MacBooks, and at the expected WWDC keynote, they showed off a brand new piece of hardware – the next-generation MacBook Pro, which boasts an amazing Retina display. However, the SuperDrive mechanism is missing.
The time to introduce the new iron came together with Phil Schiller, who was given the floor by Tim Cook on stage at the Moscone Center. Schiller was the first to mention the MacBook Air, which he says clearly changed the laptop market. This is also proven by the fact that everyone tried to copy him, but this turned out to be a difficult task. Nevertheless, Schiller did not burden those present in the hall with various numbers and dates for too long and went straight to the point.
“Today we're updating the entire MacBook line. We're adding faster processors, graphics, higher flash memory and USB 3," announced Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing. "We've made the best laptop family even better, and we think users will love the performance of both the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro." added Schiller.
He was the first to present the new MacBook Air, or rather its new internals.
New MacBook Air

The 1336-inch model offers a resolution of 768 x 999 pixels and will be sold from $1440. The 900-inch model with a resolution of 1 × 199 pixels will be the cheapest for $XNUMX. All variants go on sale today.
New MacBook Pro
- Ivy Bridge processor
- MBP 13″: Up to 2,9 GHz Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual-core processor (Turbo Boost up to 3,6 GHz)
- MPB 15″: Up to 2,7 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor (Turbo Boost up to 3,7 GHz)
- Up to 8 GB RAM
- Integrated NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics (up to 60% faster)

- Battery life up to seven hours
The 1-inch MacBook Pro starts at $199, and the 1-inch model costs $799. As with the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pros go on sale starting today. The XNUMX-inch MacBook has been completely removed from Apple's range, practically sending it to the eternal digital hunting grounds.
MacBook Pro next generation
Of course, Phil Schiller saved the most important thing for the end of his presentation, when he came across a picture with a mysterious shrouded object. It wasn't too long before one of Apple's key men introduced the next-generation MacBook Pro. According to him, this is the most amazing laptop that the Californian company has produced. And here are the closer specifications:
- Thin 1,8 cm (a quarter narrower than the current MacBook Pro, almost as thin as the Air)
- Weighs 2,02 kg (the lightest MacBook Pro ever)
- Retina display with a resolution of 2800 × 1800 pixels
- 15,4″ display with four times the number of pixels compared to the previous generation (220 ppi, 5 pixels)
The Retina display is the biggest selling point of the new generation MacBook Pro. The amazing resolution, thanks to which you practically cannot see a pixel with the naked eye, ensures better viewing angles, reduced reflections and higher contrast. As expected, this is the highest resolution any laptop has ever had. In the language of numbers, IPS technology allows viewing angles of up to 178 degrees, has 75 percent less reflections and 29 percent higher contract than the previous generation.
However, in order to take full advantage of the new Retina display, developers must optimize their applications. Apple has already updated Aperture and Final Cut Pro for these needs, which can handle and use the extraordinary resolution. Non-optimized apps can get bigger (like iPhone apps on iPad, for example), but it doesn't look too good. However, Schiller said that Adobe is already working on an update for Photoshop, while Autodesk is working on a new AutoCAD.
- Up to 2,7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost 3,7 GHz)
- Up to 16 GB RAM
- Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
- Up to 768 GB flash memory
- Up to seven hours of battery life
- SD, HDMI, USB 3 and MagSafe 2 (thinner than previous versions), Thunderbolt, USB 3, headphone jack
Apple offers FireWire 800 and Gigabit Ethernet adapters for the Thunderbolt port to meet the needs of all customers. In addition to the aforementioned MacBook Pro, the new generation naturally has a glass trackpad, a backlit keyboard, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a FaceTime HD camera, two microphones and stereo speakers.
Apple was so carried away by its new product that it did not forgive itself a short promo video in which it showed its new gem in all its glory. Jony Ive revealed that Apple has invented a new way of manufacturing and implementing the display, which is now part of the entire unibody, so there is no need for unnecessary extra layers. The new generation MacBook Pro should also have a very quiet asymmetric fan that will be almost inaudible. A breakthrough was also noted for batteries that are asymmetrical, take up less space and fit together exactly.
The next-generation MacBook Pro goes on sale starting today, and the cheapest variant will be available for $2, which equates to a model with a 199GHz quad-core chip, 2,3GB of RAM, and 8GB of flash storage.
Do I understand correctly that there will be two varza MB Pro? The old ones will remain the same in design but with different parameters and the new one will be thin + retina display etc.?
I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but that's how I understand it
I already got onto apple and I know everything, thanks :D
yes, you understand correctly, I will also add that they discontinued the MacBook Pro 17"
I would be interested in the price of the new MBP retina in crowns...
58500,-, more expensive version for 75 :-( see the updated Czech appstore
Unfortunately high – 58500 or 75 for the more expensive version… :-(
from 58 ...
Hello,
I have a question, is it possible to officially upgrade the ssdisk in macbook air?? In macbook pro it is possible... I know that, but I don't know how it is with air...
What if I bought with 128GB and wanted to replace it with 256GB maybe in half a year?
Thanks
There is no classic SSD drive in the Air. Flash memories are directly on the board. Cannot be changed!
I just replaced the ssd disk, so obviously it can be replaced. The discs are made by the only company (OWC), which Apple has not managed to suppress. It costs a hell of a lot of money, but it is (or at least was) cheaper than Apple's and the drive is better on paper (faster i/o). It wasn't difficult, you made a backup (CCC), you unscrew the lid with the included screwdriver, be careful not to charge yourself with static electricity and burn the circuits in the book, replace the disks, upload the backup. Done.
No, the Air does not have an SSD drive, but flash chips directly on the motherboard! They cannot be replaced!
it works I have opened my i7 AIR several times and the new one will be the same inside - even the disk.. There have been disks with a larger capacity of 500+ GB SSD on the net for a long time like the one in the AIR, but the price is quite crazy (at the time when I had the new AIR – less than a year ago, 500GB cost around 20).. It's probably worth paying extra directly for AIR with a more expensive disk.
58500 kc according to the Czech Apple Store
Disappointment again. Basically nothing new, ios6 in sight…. I'm waiting for a new phone to come out called:
iPhone 4S+ (will be 6% faster than the 4S and have a 6-lens camera…..)
Nothing new? The new PRO seems to me to be a much more important novelty than a new iPhone...
But the price for CR is already a bit different than what I would like to pay for notes... and I was looking forward to the "tongues" :)
in the apple store the MAC PRO is like new...you have no idea what's new about it...somehow I didn't understand it?!
Let them keep it at that price
2165 Euros for an improved MBA 13', I think I'm doing that in Cupertina's ass...
(and that was with a student discount, otherwise 2300 Euros... sper to das)
Finally an MBP to buy.
In about a year the price will be normal ;-)
Lenovo's thinkpads were completely exhausted as far as possible, my current T400 was already on the edge; So Apple really disappointed me with the 13-inch Pro line, in fact without significant innovation since 2008; it will be very difficult to decide what to buy this year. One thing is certain, I can't even smell windows anymore. Already IOS on the 4S has clearly won me over and I was really looking forward to when I would switch to OSX, so that I could become a real sheep... Apple has a good idea, it confused me perfectly.
It is thanks to the non-innovation of the 13″ Macbook Pro that I coughed up on Apple (and I really wanted a Macbook). The 1280×800 resolution is too low for me and tragic compared to the competition. It seems to me that Apple decided to let the current MB Pro die a slow death without coming up with an adequate replacement. For those who don't want to drag around a 15″ cow, need a higher resolution for work (even what the Air has would be enough for the MB Pro) and sometimes higher performance than the 13″ MB Air offers, Apple currently has nothing. So you have to look elsewhere.
So sorry for the wrong information. I lived in this delusion. So thanks for broadening your horizons. Otherwise, it is financially quite demanding, that is, if it can only be ordered from America. Can it be found in the Czech Republic???
It doesn't seem so bad to me, the basic 15″ pro is just an excellent laptop. It would only be fair if it was the new generation MacBook Pro at that price. 57 thousand is already a bit much.
