Apple introduced a new generation of its phones. iPhone 6 is the thinnest iPhone ever at 4,7 inches. In addition to the larger display, the iPhone 6 has rounded edges compared to the previous generation, it houses a more powerful A8 chip and has a so-called Retina HD display.

For a long time, Apple avoided large screens on mobile phones. Three and a half to four inches at most should have been the ideal size for a device intended for frequent one-handed use. Today, however, Apple broke all its previous claims and presented two iPhones with larger displays. The smaller one has a 4,7-inch display and boasts the title of the thinnest product that Apple has ever produced.

In terms of design, Apple opted for shapes known from iPads, the square profile is replaced by rounded edges. The buttons for volume control have also undergone minor changes, and the Power button is now located on the other side of the iPhone 6. If it remained on the top edge of the device, it would be very difficult to reach with one hand due to the large display. According to Apple, that large display is made of ion-strengthened glass (sapphire has not yet been used) and will offer Retina HD resolution – 1334 by 750 pixels at 326 pixels per inch. This ensures, among other things, greater viewing angles. Apple also focused on using the device in the sun when making the new display. The improved polarizing filter is supposed to ensure higher visibility, even with sunglasses on.

In the bowels of the iPhone 6 hides a 64-bit processor of the new generation called A8, which with two billion transistors will offer a 25 percent higher speed than its predecessor. The graphics chip is even 50 percent faster. Thanks to the 20nm manufacturing process, Apple has managed to shrink its new chip by thirteen percent and, according to him, should have better performance during longer use.

The new processor also comes with the motion co-processor of the new generation M8, which will offer two major changes compared to the current M7 introduced a year ago – it can distinguish between running and cycling, and it can also measure the number of stairs you have climbed. In addition to the accelerometer, compass and gyroscope, the M8 coprocessor also collects data from the newly present barometer.

The camera remains at eight megapixels in the iPhone 6, but against its predecessors it uses a completely new sensor with even larger pixels. Like the iPhone 5S, it has an f/2,2 aperture and dual LED flash. The big advantage of bigger iPhone 6 Plus is optical image stabilization, which is not found in the iPhone 6 or older models. For both new iPhones, Apple used a new automatic focusing system, which should be up to twice as fast as before. Face detection is also faster. iPhone 6 will also please selfie fans, because the front FaceTime HD camera captures 81 percent more light thanks to the new sensor. In addition, the new burst mode allows you to take up to 10 frames per second, so you can always choose the best shot.

iPhone 6 brings an improved algorithm for processing photos, thanks to which there are better details, contrast and sharpness in the captured images. Panoramic shots can now be up to 43 megapixels. The video has also been improved. At 30 or 60 frames per second, the iPhone 6 can record 1080p video, and the slow motion function now supports 120 or 240 frames per second. Apple also equipped the front camera with a new sensor.

When looking at current iPhones, endurance is important. With the larger body of the iPhone 6 comes a larger battery, but that does not always automatically mean longer endurance. When making calls, Apple claims a 5 percent increase compared to the iPhone 3S, but when surfing via 6G/LTE, the iPhone XNUMX lasts the same as its predecessor.

In terms of connectivity, Apple has played around with LTE, which is now even faster (it can handle up to 150 Mb/s). iPhone 6 also supports VoLTE, i.e. calling via LTE, and Wi-Fi on the latest Apple phone is said to be up to three times faster than on the 5S. This is due to the support of the 802.11ac standard.

The big news in the iPhone 6 is also NFC technology, which Apple avoided for many years. But now, to enter the field of financial transactions, he backed off and put NFC in the new iPhone. The iPhone 6 supports a new service called Apple Pay, which uses the NFC chip for wireless payments at supported terminals. Purchases are always authorized by the customer via Touch ID, which ensures maximum security, and every iPhone has a secure segment with stored credit card data. However, for now, Apple Pay will only be available in the United States.

The iPhone 6 will go on sale next week, on September 19 the first customers will get it together with iOS 8, the new mobile operating system will be released to the general public two days earlier. The new iPhone will again be offered in three color variants as now, and in the United States the starting price is $199 for the 16 GB version. Unfortunately, Apple continued to keep this in the menu, although the 32GB version has already been replaced by the 64GB version and a 128GB variant has been added. The iPhone 6 will arrive in the Czech Republic later, we will inform you about the exact date and Czech prices. At the same time, Apple has also decided to create new cases for the new iPhones, there will be a choice of several colors in silicone and leather.
