Michal Marek Speculations and conjectures of enthusiasts have turned into certainty, and at today's keynote, Apple really presented a cheaper variant of the iPhone with the designation "5C". The phone is very similar in appearance to its older sibling, the iPhone 5 (shape and layout of control and hardware elements), but it is made of colored hardened polycarbonate. It will be available in five colors – green, white, blue, pink and yellow.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone 5C will offer a four-inch (326 ppi) Retina display, an Apple A6 processor and a powerful 8MP camera comparable to the iPhone 4S and 5. In addition, the camera lens is protected by "scratch-proof" sapphire glass, which is not the case with the iPhone 4S . On the front of the phone we find a FaceTime HD camera with a resolution of 1,9 MP. If we look at connectivity, there is LTE, Dual-Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
Two different models will be available for purchase – 16GB and 32GB. For a cheaper option with a two-year contract with American operators Sprint, Verizon or at&t, the customer will pay $99. Then $199 for the more expensive version with higher memory capacity. On Apple.com the price for which the unsubsidized iPhone 5C is sold by the American T-Mobile has already appeared. Without a contract and blocking, people will be able to buy the colorful novelty from this operator for 549 or 649 dollars respectively.
In connection with this iPhone, new rubber cases in different colors will also be released on the market, which will protect the plastic iPhone and make it even more colorful. Those interested will pay $29 for them.
The cheaper iPhone model is no big surprise and Apple's strategy is clear. The Cupertino company now wants to extend its success to developing markets, where customers have not been able to pay for a "full-fledged" iPhone. However, the surprise is precisely the price, which is far from being as low as expected. The iPhone 5C may be a nice and still rather bloated phone, but it's definitely not cheap. A colorful and cheerful phone made of high-quality plastic and with a bitten apple on the back will certainly find its fans and supporters, but it is not a device that can compete with cheap Androids in price. The 5C is an interesting revival of Apple's phone portfolio, but it's certainly not the groundbreaking product that will bring the iPhone to the masses worldwide. Yes, 16 GB, but this price does not apply to us at all. For us, Germany pays 599 Euro! And that, according to my calculations, is 15 thousand. Not 13 thousand after the provost from the dollar.
I'm sorry to criticize right away, but the idea of seeing a high-ranking manager at a company meeting with this phone and the rubber cover, it would be as if he stole it from a kid somewhere on the playground. The colors are a bit childish, but I think it was also said at the keynote that it should be "family" or something... Anyway, Apple must have succeeded, the 4S is enough for me for now, I don't need to buy this. If it will be for an acceptable price (hopefully under 12,-) then it will definitely be GREAT! :)

5C are very childish and I personally don't like it, I guess I'm old. In addition, it doesn't even seem like evolution to me anymore... more like a fulfilled dream of the "poor" and taste-obsessed classes in India and China.
But you obviously do not belong to the target group of customers. I like it, but I wouldn't buy it. As I write above, it is intended for girls, children and China. Resp. it is an impression caused by my personal taste. On the contrary, I was surprised by the 5S in gold color - I thought it would be extremely ugly and tasteless, and suddenly it looks very good from the photos.
They show off the different colors of the packaging probably more than the phones! It's a shame that we, the parents, will pay for it :D

I just have one question about this “so cheap” iphone…. The background is not the same as in iOS7, but it is based on the color of the phone... will it be possible to change the background to normal? and for example, if I buy red ones, will the control center and notification center have a red tint?

It looks like a more expensive and flashier iPhone5 to me. From Apple's point of view, minimal costs for innovation, new variants, would certainly give higher sales if the iPhone5 remained on the market

I personally like all the news, both in terms of processing and functions. I was surprised by the gold iPhone, but why not, the Russians and Chinese will probably buy it. iPhone 5C dyes, except for green, also work. But what got me from Apple is the price! I thought the 5C would be needed for the rest of the family at a price below 10. But this??? Prices are constantly rising and this is not a good move when for 15 thousand will i get year old technology in a plastic case???!!

The maximum is NOK 9999 with the program package for almost NOK 800. But don't have a black color (in my opinion, the most common).

I don't see what is infantile about the 5C - for the vast majority it will be a better phone than the 5S (unfortunately, I want the 5S). Yeah paint and plastic? I don't remember anyone calling people buying Lumies children or infantile ladies (which, by the way, doesn't even make sense).
As they say - you pull your head out of the place where you have it - and look around. People have other concerns than what kind of phone they will have and what others will say about them based on their choice. People who have other concerns than what kind of phone to have, we are undoubtedly all here, but for us who have been associated with Apple for years, the iPhone is simply more than a phone, and yes, we decide what materials it is made of, what colors it has, etc., and that is why we go to such places as Jablíčkář. iPhone 4S at bazaar for 10 and more (those who sell it should think now!!) -> I'd rather buy this gray 5C, which won't break the glass at the back, I'll have free iwork, etc., warranty and that's it. The biggest problem is that this is called a phone. The iPhone and the Nokia 3410 have about as much in common as the Nissan GTR and a scooter. Both are means of transport, but it is absurd to compare them. There's no need to get angry over the price of a GTR if you want a scooter ;-) Everyone has different needs.
Agreement. I do most things on the iPad, so a second device that can do the same thing is unnecessary for me. On the other hand, it would suit me to have a common system for iPad and mobile phone (some things are solved better). Only 18 thousand is for such a small luxury that I share photos and once a year a file is simply too much ;-).
Um. For 14.000 CZK for 16GB, let them keep it. I expected about 6-8 thousand here. It's a shame that there isn't even an 8GB version for maybe 4.000.

I'd like to apologize to everyone I stubbornly told that there would never be an iPhone 5c, because even ive wouldn't approve. Now I understand what led them to this step, although I am not at all excited about it, my disappointment was fully refunded by the iPhone 5s :)
I praise the courage to accept and love :) I had a similar situation with a 4-inch display. However, I didn't say that Apple won't release it, just that I don't want it. However, after I tried it live myself, I found out that my fears were unnecessary.

A plastic mobile phone for 15,- :-) , so there is nothing to add to that nowadays, when I can have a mobile phone, e.g. Nokia Lumia 000, for 925,- which is completely different in terms of system and processing! What's more, there is a choice on the market and everyone chooses their own!
