As part of its opening keynote at WWDC, Apple presented the expected iOS 15. Specifically, Craig Federighi talked about it, who invited many other company personalities to the virtual stage. The main news is the improvement of the FaceTime applications, as well as Messages or Maps.

FaceTime

Spatial Audio is coming to FaceTim. There is a sound isolation function in which machine learning reduces ambient noise. There is also a portrait mode, which blurs the background. But the so-called FaceTime links are of great interest. Send an invitation to the other party through them, and it will be entered in his calendar. It even works within Android, who then handle the call on the web.

SharePlay then brings music to your FaceTime calls, but also enables screen sharing or even sharing content from streaming services. Thanks to an open API for other apps, it's not a feature purely for Apple titles (Disney+, hulu, HBO Max, TikTok, etc.).

News

Mindy Borovsky introduced new features in News. Multiple photos will now be able to be saved in one image, something like albums, just under one image. The big change is the Shared with You feature. It will show who the shared content is from and will be able to interact with it. This is, for example, music that will then appear in the Shared with You section of Apple Music or in Photos. It works across Safari, Podcasts, Apple TV apps, etc.

Focus and notifications

The Focus feature will help users focus on what's important and stick closely to notifications. They have a new look. These are mainly larger icons, which will be divided according to which of them require immediate attention. Only the important ones are shown in the list at the top. However, the Do Not Disturb function is also coming to notifications.

Focus determines what you want to focus on. Accordingly, it will automatically set which people and applications will be able to show you notifications, so for example only colleagues will be called at work, but not after work. In addition, you turn on Do Not Disturb on one device and it turns on on all others.

Live Text and Spotlight

With this new feature, you take a photo where there is some text, tap on it and you can work with it immediately. The problem is that Czech is not supported here. There are only 7 languages so far. The function also recognizes objects, books, animals, flowers and just about anything else.

The search directly on the desktop has also been fundamentally improved. E.g. you will be able to search in the photos just by the contained text.

Memories in Photos

Chelsea Burnette highlighted what memories can do. They have improved control, the background music continues to play when stopped, several graphic and musical themes are offered. At the same time, each photo is analyzed, all based on the user. They are actually just such slightly different Stories known from social networks. But they look very nice.

Wallet

Jennifer Bailey announced support for cards, specifically those for transportation or, for example, to Disney World. Hotkey key support is also present. All because of the coronavirus crisis and the prevention of meeting (check-in, etc.). But the Wallet will now also be able to contain your identity documents. These will be encrypted just like Apple Pay.

Weather and Maps

The weather also brings a really huge update. It has a new layout and display of data, even on the map. News about the Maps application was presented by Meg Frost, but it mainly revolves around maps in the USA, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Australia and Italy - that is, in terms of improved backgrounds. The navigation has also been redesigned. It shows traffic lights, bus and taxi lanes.
