It's not official, but several trusted sources have just confirmed that Apple plans to unveil the next-generation iPad and iPad mini on October 22nd. The space is also expected to get the new OS X Mavericks and possibly Mac Pro…

A well-informed server was always the first to report AllThingsD, after which everything (as in the last keynote) was confirmed by Jim Dalrymple from The Loop. John Gruber from Daring Fireball, to whom October 22 makes sense. Last year, Apple presented the new iPhone on September 11, followed by the new iPads on October 23, and since they suffer from regularity, they will move everything up by just one day this year.

The main topic of the October keynote will clearly be iPads. According to John Paczkowski the fifth generation iPad will be thinner and lighter, more similar to the current iPad mini. An improved camera should also arrive, and the new 64-bit A7 processor will also enter the large iPad. However, Paczkowski provides much more interesting information about the iPad mini. According to him, even a smaller Apple tablet will get the latest chip, which only the iPhone 5s is currently equipped with, and to top it all off, a Retina display.

If true, it would mean that the iPad mini would skip an entire generation of processors, as it now houses an A5 chip. It is also possible that Touch ID, a fingerprint sensor, will be added to iPads, but no one has confirmed this information yet.

There are also no reports of new MacBook Pros, which have been rumored for some time now, and users are eagerly awaiting an update that will at least bring Haswell processors. The MacBook Air has had them for several months.
