Since the spring of this year, there have been rumors about the arrival of the third generation of AirPods. Their performance was initially predicted for March or April, but this was not confirmed in the final. On the contrary, the respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already claimed that mass production would only begin in the second half of this year. Through the regular newsletter, Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman has now commented on the product, according to which the new AirPods will be presented alongside the iPhone 13, i.e. specifically in September.

This fall, Apple is expected to introduce several interesting products, with the iPhone 13 of course getting the most attention. As for the Apple headphones themselves, they should bring the biggest design change so far. The third generation will be greatly inspired by the appearance of AirPods Pro, thanks to which, for example, the feet will be smaller and the charging case will be larger. In terms of functions, however, there probably won't be any news. At most, we can count on a newer chip and better sound quality, but for example, the product will most likely not offer active suppression of ambient noise. At the same time, they will still be classic pieces.

The last time AirPods were updated was in 2019, when the second generation came with a better chip, Bluetooth 5.0 (instead of 4.2), the Hey Siri function, better battery life and the option to purchase a charging case with wireless charging support. So it is not surprising that it is already time for Apple to show itself with the third generation. There was also speculation among Apple fans that it makes sense to introduce AirPods alongside iPhones. Since Apple no longer adds (wired) headphones to the packaging of apple phones, it is understandable that it is appropriate to promote the new product at the same time.
