Two years have passed since the introduction of Apple maps, with which Apple replaced Google's data. Apple Maps gradually made its way into all Apple services and applications, including third-party applications that used the Core Maps library. The last place where you could still use Google Maps was Find My iPhone, specifically its web version on iCloud.com
Now you can find Apple Maps here too. Google Maps is thus disappearing from the last place in the Apple ecosystem. When you log in to iCloud.com today and start the Find my iPhone service, you will notice a change in the visual display of maps, the transition to your own documents is also confirmed by data information (information button in the lower right corner), where they appear instead of Google Tom Tom and other providers. The change does not appear in all accounts yet, if you still see the background from Google, you can log in to the non-beta version of iCloudi (beta.icloud.com), where Apple Maps appears to everyone.
Apple's own documents are still the subject of controversy due to their incompleteness and inaccuracies. It has come a long way since its launch, but many countries, including the Czech Republic, are still significantly worse covered than Google maps. This news is rather bad news for Czech users. While the Google Maps application can be downloaded for navigation, the Find My iPhone service can only use Apple maps.
Mr. Žďánský, it looks like someone is stealing your device according to that map :)
but he almost has it :D
"Core Maps" probably means Map Kit, right?
So now we can't find not only the right way, but also the iPhone ;)
just like after testing apple maps vs google me apple maps show road closures and how to get around it but google shows a closure but it doesn't get around...
you can sign in to the beta version of iCloudi (beta.icloud.com), where Apple Maps appears to everyone
really?
Map data ©Google :-)
So I tried it too and that's how it is, Google maps are also displayed on my beta. More misinformation on Jabličkář?
Well, it's the same on the source - 9to5mac, but at least they could test it before they write it :-)
but it's a lot of extra work than translating (hopefully not via google translator) an article on another portal :)
Apple Maps are live on the iCloud.com beta site and available for some users on the main iCloud.com site as well.
this is on 9to5mac…
Well, that's just the problem with today's "newspapers" in general. One person writes something and the others cheerfully copy it without taking an interest... Fortunately, this is a small thing, but often much more problematic messages also emerge. A person should then go through the whole google after reading the article to be sure, so that he can make up his mind whether it is true or not.
Well... I once had the urge to send information that Apple is preparing Siri for OS X with a screen... and it would be fine if the internet wasn't full of it :-)
It's at least good that there is some truth in that article, rather than OS X Siri... :D
I don't have any beta version and I can see Apple Maps. What do you think ?
It would mainly like those Apple maps to finally show the Czech Republic like other countries.
