A little while ago, Apple unexpectedly released the new iOS 12.1.2. This is a rather non-standard update, as in most cases similar versions of systems go through the beta testing process. However, in the case of iOS 12.1.2, it is really only a minor update that quickly fixes two bugs related to the new iPhone XR, XS and XS Max

Users can download and install the new system traditionally in Settings -> In general -> Software update. The update is around 83 MB, the size varies depending on the specific model and device.

It is also a safe assumption that iOS 12.1.2 intended for the Chinese market most likely removes some features that fall under Qualcomm's patent. Apple is currently suing its rival, and Qualcomm was in a Chinese court last week conquered ban on the sale of certain iPhone models. The Californian company is thus forced to remove from the system proprietary parts of the code related to resizing and reformatting photos and operating applications via a touch screen.

iOS 12.1.2 includes bug fixes for your iPhone. This update:

  • Fixes eSIM activation errors on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max
  • Addresses an issue with iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max that may have affected cellular connections in Turkey
