Apple is working on its own 5G modems
Even before the presentation of last year's iPhone 11 generation, it was often discussed whether the then-new products would boast support for 5G networks. Unfortunately, this was hampered by the ongoing lawsuit between Apple and Qualcomm and the fact that Intel, then the main supplier of modems for Apple phones, was far behind in this technology. Because of this, we only got to see this gadget in the case of the iPhone 12. Fortunately, all the disputes between the mentioned Californian giants have been resolved, which is why the modems from Qualcomm are found in the latest phones with the bitten apple logo - that is, at least for now.

But according to the latest information from Bloomberg, Apple is trying to find an even more ideal solution. This would be independence from Qualcomm and own production of this "magical" component. The Cupertino company is currently working on the development of its own 5G modem, as stated by Johny Srouji, vice president for hardware. This statement is also confirmed by the fact that Apple bought the division of these modems from Intel last year and at the same time hired more than two thousand local employees for the aforementioned development.
Of course, this is a relatively long run, and developing your own solution will take some time. In addition, it is no surprise that Apple wants to become as independent as possible so that it is not too dependent on Qualcomm. But when we will see our own solution is understandably unclear in the current situation.
Suppliers do not expect a large sale of AirPods Max
In our magazine this week, you could read about the fact that Apple introduced itself to the world with a brand new product – the AirPods Max headphones. At first glance, they are distinguished by their design and relatively higher purchase price. Of course, the headphones are not aimed at ordinary listeners. You can read all the details and details in the article attached below. But now let's talk about what sales AirPods Max could have.
According to the latest information from DigiTimes magazine, Taiwanese companies such as Compeq and Unitech, which already have experience in the production of components for classic AirPods, should take care of the production of circuit boards for the mentioned headphones. However, these suppliers do not expect the sales of the headphones to be any noticeable. The fault is mainly the fact that it is the one just mentioned headphones. This segment is quite small in the market and when we compare it with the market of classic wireless headphones, we can immediately notice the difference. For example, we can cite the latest analysis by Canalys, which points to the worldwide sales of true wireless headphones. 45 million pairs of these were sold during the third quarter of 2019, compared to "only" 20 million pairs of headphones.
An iPhone with an original piece of circuitry from the Apple I is heading to the market
The Russian company Caviar once again applies for the floor. If you don't know this company yet, it is a unique company that specializes in creating extravagant and relatively expensive iPhone cases. Currently, a very interesting model appeared in their offer. Of course, this is the iPhone 12 Pro, but the most interesting thing about it is that its body contains an original circuit fragment from the Apple I computer - the very first personal computer that Apple ever created.

The price of such a phone starts at 10 thousand dollars, i.e. about 218 thousand crowns. The Apple I computer was released in 1976. Today it is an incredible rarity, and only 63 are known to exist so far. When selling them, even unbelievable amounts are handled. At the last auction, the Apple I was sold for 400 dollars, which after conversion is almost 9 million crowns (CZK 8,7 million). Just one such machine was also bought by the Caviar company, which created it for the creation of these unique iPhones. If you like this piece and would like to buy it by pure chance, then you should definitely not delay - Caviar plans to produce only 9 pieces.
