We have not heard about the development of the display from Apple's workshop for some time. In addition, there is only one piece that is in the current offer ProDisplay XDR from the end of 2019. It is aimed at professional use, which corresponds to its price tag - it exceeds the threshold of 100 thousand crowns. However, the foreign portal 9to5Mac recently came up with new information, according to which the giant from Cupertino is now working on a special external display that will hide the A13 chip in its guts (which, by the way, is found in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone SE 2020) together with the Neural Engine.

For Display XDR (2019):

In this case, the chip should serve as an eGPU and thus take care of rendering more demanding graphics operations. If the CPU and GPU were directly in the monitor, the Mac would not have to use only the power of the internal chip and would also be able to cope with tasks that it would not normally be able to handle. Especially if both chips (internal and external) use their potential to the maximum. It should also be noted that this is not a completely unique report. Already in 2016, rumors were circulating on the Internet about the alleged development of a Thunderbolt display, which was also supposed to be equipped with a graphics card. Unfortunately, we never received this product. Currently, only the aforementioned Pro Display XDR is available without any GPU.

Portal 9to5Mac believes that the display with the A13 chip would directly replace the existing Pro Display XDR, while it is also possible that Apple will use an even more powerful chip inside it. As already mentioned above, the A13 Bionic is located in iPhone 11 (Pro) and the iPhone SE (2020), which have been here with us for some Friday. At the same time, there is talk of work on a cheaper monitor. According to reports so far, it should only serve as a display without a graphics card.
