Apple has received reinforcements for its retail team, according to the latest reports. Enrique Atienza, the former senior vice president of the textile company Levi Strauss, is heading to the California company, he should take care of several regions on the west coast of the United States...

According to the server 9to5Mac Atienza is expected to oversee all retail matters on the West Coast of the United States, one of Apple's most senior retail positions. Also because of this, Apple's management had to consider several internal and external candidates, and finally the choice fell on Atienza.

He recently left Levi Strauss, where he also held a senior position. A spokeswoman for Levi Strauss confirmed his departure, although she declined to say where Atienza's next steps will lead. At the well-known textile company, however, Atienza had sales under his thumb and was concerned with ensuring that customers left the stores satisfied.

Something similar probably awaits him now at Apple. The California companies have not yet officially confirmed Atienza's arrival, but the new member is expected to take office in October.

However, the position of head of retail remains vacant. After the passing of John Browett last year Tim Cook still hasn't found the right person to replace Ron Johnson, although he is free at the time. It's clear that Cook doesn't want to make the same mistake as Browett, who didn't do well at the Apple Store network, so he wants to appoint someone he's 100% sure of in the top position.

Apple is said to be looking outside of its core for the position, possibly even outside the United States, though that's not necessarily a requirement. At least the second-highest position - vice president of retail operations - should now be held by Steve Cano, compared by some to Ron Johnson, who reports to Tim Cook, and it is Cano who will report to Atienza.

Atienz's involvement is no surprise from Apple's point of view. A very busy autumn awaits the Californian company, which will start soon the introduction of the new iPhone, new versions of iPads should follow, so the Apple Story and their functioning will be key for the apple company.
