Information about the development of a redesigned iPad Pro is emerging in the apple-growing community. According to information from the sources of Mark Gurman, a respected reporter of the Bloomberg agency, Apple is planning major changes for 2024, led by a change in design. Specifically, it should focus on the transition to an OLED display and the aforementioned design. Some speculations and leaks even mention the use of a back cover made of glass (instead of the previously used aluminum), similar to, for example, modern iPhones, or the arrival of a MagSafe magnetic connector for easier charging.

Speculations related to the deployment of an OLED display have been appearing for a long time. Display analyst Ross Young recently came up with this news, adding that the Cupertino giant is even preparing for the same change in the case of the MacBook Air. But in general we can say one thing. Interesting hardware changes await the iPad Pro, which will once again move the device several steps forward. At least that's how Apple imagines it. Apple buyers themselves are no longer so positive and do not attach such weight to speculation.

Do we need hardware changes?

Apple tablet fans, on the other hand, deal with a completely different side. The truth is that iPads have come a long way in recent years and have seen a fairly significant increase in performance. The Pro and Air models even have chipsets from the Apple Silicon family that power basic Apple computers. With regard to speed, they certainly do not lack, in fact, quite the opposite. They have too much power and cannot use it in the final. The biggest problem lies in the iPadOS operating system itself. It is based on mobile iOS and is not really that different from it. Therefore, many users refer to it as iOS, only with the fact that it is intended for larger screens.

It is therefore not surprising that apple growers do not react very positively to speculation. On the contrary, they draw attention to the aforementioned shortcomings associated with the operating system. Apple would therefore please the vast majority of users not with hardware but with software changes. There has been talk for a long time about bringing iPadOS closer to macOS. The basic problem lies in the absence of multitasking. Although Apple is trying to solve this through the Stage Manager function, the truth is that it has not yet achieved so much success with it. According to many people, it would be many times better for the Cupertino giant not to try to come up with another novelty (meaning Stage Manager), but to bet on something that has been working for years. Specifically, to support application windows in combination with the Dock, thanks to which it would be possible to switch between applications in a flash, or customize the desktop.

Confusion accompanies the iPad offering

In addition, since the arrival of the 10th generation iPad (2022), some Apple users complain that the offer of Apple tablets stops making sense and can even confuse the average user. Probably even Apple itself is not entirely sure of the direction it should go and what changes it would like to bring. At the same time, the requests of apple growers are relatively clear. But the Cupertino giant is trying to avoid these changes as much as it can. Therefore, several important question marks hang over the upcoming development.
